Devs - Mission difficulty seems higher after update

first, thanks again for lowering the combat difficulty for the easy levels.

i play on the very easy level, just like to sail around, fight only occasionally, trade, and go on missions. my comment is that prior to the patch most all Missions were by far 1 star difficulty, a few 2 star, once in awhile a 3 , but rarely a 4 or 5. in fact, i don't recall ever seeing a 5. but now, after the patch, i'm getting way more 3,4,5 than i am 1,2.

Proteus505, could you folks take look at this and see if something got inadvertently changed in this last update? on very easy/easy i can understand seeing 4 and 5 star difficulty missions later in the game as i advance in rank, get a bigger ship, etc but not when i first start out. anyway, something to maybe check out unless it's all random and you get what you get. thanks!

I double checked all our changes and I don't see anything that could have affected the mission difficulty. The mission selection looks at overall game progress, which is based on what rank all the players have. So as players gain ranks, harder missions can be chosen, but there is still a wide range that can be chosen so there is some randomness within a band.

Did you load an existing save game when you played with the patch? If so, maybe you were later in the game and it happened to generate a bunch of tougher missions.

Let me know if you keep seeing weirdness.

nope, didn't load an old save. started fresh. I thought something was out of whack after the patch as here I am, just startted a new game, a lowly captain in a leaky sloop, builds me a tavern, and was presented with a 2, a 4, and a 5 star mission first time I checked. I'm now seeing a few more 1’s and 2’s but still seeing more 3’s and 4’s than I remember seeing in early games before the patch. oh well, thanks for checking.
