If you don't mind text only, Choice of games/Hosted games books are worth a look.
80 days is good fun, but again heavily text based.
Vampire the masquerade (patched- have only run it from GoG not steam) is a nice mix of adventure and story.
Thank you for these recommendations.
I will take some look at those games.
By the way. I like adventure games with story depending
choices.
On the other side, I am not really a fan of tricky
(or unlogical on purpose) puzzles.
Example: Hours of searching for something no one ever
would have guessed to be needful or necessary THERE.
Much better: The car is out of gasoline. Maybe there is
a filling station somewhere nearby. Good luck.
Main reason for adventure games here: Equal to reading an
interesting story as in a comic book (from a talented author)
and walking around in a good painted (3D) environment.
Concentrated play, yes, but relaxed.
So, on other days, I play Ridge Racer or Doom, for fast action.
But in adventure games I like more the easy going. Enjoying the
story and ambient.
Return to Mysterious Island (1 had a better story, 2 had better gameplay IMO)
Dracula Origin is also an oldie but goodie although it did have some frustratingly stupid puzzles (and the "you HAVE to solve the entire puzzle to progress even if you can SEE the code for the next puzzle)
The entire Sherlock Holmes collection by Frogwares. Not all of equal quality, but all generally good.
Agatha Christie ABC murder
The eyes of Ara
The House of Da Vinci (1 & 2)
Nostradamus the last prophecy
The Room (the whole collection)
Journey to the moon
JULIA among the stars
That's all that comes to mind, hope you find some that you like!
Thank you, thank you and again: THANK YOU.
Wow, that's a list!
You are a person that exactly knows how to answer
a question like this.
I am nearly stunned of enjoyment.
Thank you for making this list.
Some of those games I already have.
And some I never have heard of.
I will take a close look at all of them.
I did a quick view on "known" titles and found...
Journey to the moon, lucky me, at the moment for 1 dollar.
From the story of the French writer Jules Verne?!
I know the silent movie from the year 1902 and the book
from the midst 19th century. Good stuff.
Anyway, I will curiously follow this list of yours.
AND I wish a good effort and a lot of fun for you.
Note:
I had been down with the "autumn flu" (not Corona) for four weeks.
Therefor the late re-post.
