New player here
Messed around with this years ago but I didn't want to learn a whole new game. I'm trying to start again but can I just use cool looking moves that I like and have a decent shot at beating other people?

Or do I have to use meta 10f moves and use specific pairings and all that if I want to win?

It's quite rare but it happens that you will meet new players like you and so even with a random deck there will be a challenge and a chance of victory, but keep in mind that most players are experienced enough by now to not be beaten by a random deck, especially if used by a new player.
The fact is that if on one hand the variety of moves that the game offers and the building possibilities are very nice, on the other hand it also makes it quite easy to create weak points if you don't think in the right way when you build it, for this reason, or you start studying deckbuilding in depth (which can also be fun because is like solving a puzzle) or just better to use a good deck already made.
But even with a good deck you won't be able to defeat most of the opponents if you don't practice a lot first, but know that the few players that this game has are mostly nice and kind and if you see that you like the game and want to learn more about it you just have to join the discord server and you will find a lot of players ready to help you for pvp, for the deck or for any doubts you have.

you just have to find the right opponent, they're not all trash. maybe help new players to understand the game better if you learned something, at least you have a better chance of finding an honorable opponent. leave the discussions, they are useless, these people are incapable of playing. they don't even know what the word "play" means.

their goal is to win with minimal effort, unfortunately this game requires a lot of effort to be played fully, it's not for everyone, but you certainly can't stop them from playing, you can only choose the opponent :)

for the last time do not create a toxic environment, reply on post or a point , be respectful , do not create any unnecessary remarks like leave the discussions they are useless, these people are incapable of playing
this game is managed by a community now if you don't agree please dont carry this grudge here in discussions and drive away people who are trying to learn the game and join tournaments.
you are free to join discord or community discord and talk as much as you want there , please create a constructive feedback or criticism

Thanks, exactly what I wanted to know. I've already made a cool ass deck with cool moves, I've followed a few of the rules like pairing first column with alternate attacks.

Hopefully that's enough to have some fun, there are some new players on xbox because sifu just got released on xbox gamepass so a few people trickling down to absolver.
