Well, this chapter definitely started more tedious than the second one that hooked me right away. And the reason was the character Tatarigoroshi was centered around. Satoko was (and, well, still is) my least favorite character out of the whole cast for one simple reason: I don't like kids, especially kids with the personality 'I'll be annoying you until you make me cry' aka chaotic crybaby. This chapter added to her personality a lot aside from that, buuuut lots of these 'new additions' were not that sympathetic. And another thing that may really catch you off goard during this chapter, is how long and slow the beginning (first 3 to 4 hours) is. I definitely took my time to finally reach its best parts. Oh, and another thing. Dr. Irie. He's against kids' abuse... but get ready for hundreds of sleazy and borderline paedо jokes coming from him in regards to Satoko and Rika - the youngest of the cast. Well well well.
But aside from that. As you finally reach the fourth hour of this scenario, it will really start taking off. And the atmosphere of this chapter is indeed different from the first two. It's pretty dubious, tragic, and much less 'mysterious' or straight up psychotic as the first two were. The insanity feels heavy - from the moral and social points of view this time. The whole village and mad god mystery intertwines with the small tragedy regarding one unhappy kid who has their issues as well. A lot of them, you know.
When the chapter gets over its worst parts, its best parts start opening up really well and show you, the reader, how versatile and ever surprising the multisided madness of Hinamizawa can be. And that definitely gives you the motivation to keep going and reach the end of this story.
