David Mackowski believed in the righteousness of his evangelical cause when he was sent to Amerzone. Just like his friends, he truly thought his ideas would lead to the country’s betterment. His actions might have been less bombastic than Valembois’ or Alvarez’s, but they still contributed to Amerzone’s downfall in a slow yet steady way. By the time he realized his mistakes, it was too late: people had already turned against their traditions.
