It seems like it may be related to the statue at the top of the screen on the final boss fight. This Statue has its own HP and can be killed, but only before the boss calls his horse. Could it be related to Icy? Like she is the statue crying the frost shards? Maybe we need to bring a certain item like the holy glasses in Symphony of the Night? Maybe kill the boss with Benevolence sword? P.S. I know this forum is dead, but if you have any clue, feel free to post something here even if this post gets old...

If you want that you're going to have to keep all your pixel art the same resolution. Low res floating platforms with a higher res character on them is just odd.
