Net code fix via Steam client [Update: Apr.9 2015 ]
=============================
April 9, 2015
Peer-to-peer network API on Steam public client has been updated which should vastly improve - or in most cases eliminate - stutters and stalls that affected online play in SSF4AE and USF4. (in laymen's term, network API was essentially stalling when receiving bursts of session queries from other users)

=============================
March 31, 2015

As some of you have already noticed, a new Steam client beta went live on March 30th that further improves Steam's network API that handles peer-to-peer connections.

=============================
Hello USFIV players,

We’ve been working together with Valve to improve some of the netcode issues PC players are experiencing with Ultra Street Fighter IV. We recently implemented a change which is now live in the Steam Beta Client.

To subscribe to the beta release, go to [Steam->Settings, Beta participation]. If it doesn't say "Steam Beta Update", click the [Change...] button, and select the Steam Beta Update and let it update. Then, select [Steam->Check for Steam Client Updates] to make sure you have the latest update, and then check [Help->About] and make sure the "Built" string is greater than or equal to Mar 13 2015.

so being that p2p all users should use beta to benefit, right?

so we'll see if something is better with the next stable client probably

wbacon, I have a question (that's unrelated to the netcode fix):

Do you know what the next DLC is about for this game? It was added to the Steam Database back in January, and Capcom haven't really made any comment on what it's supposed to be. Maybe you can give us a hint.....?

so you need both the beta steam client and the beta version of USF4? that's interesting.. why is that? is there an important update in the steam client?

I believe part of the issues were how Steam handled P2P connections. Valve has been improving this technology in betas, so something they've done recently must have opened up an opportunity for Capcom to capitalize on it, or maybe just simply impacted USF4 without Capcom doing anything directly to USF4 (keep in mind they did mention that they've been working with Valve in this post). In which case, hats off to Capcom for being proactive about it.

People love to complain - and I guess in this case with SF it's fairly warranted, providing Capcom has kept quiet on the issue - but maybe part of why they kept quiet is they didn't want to blatantly blame Steam for something and make it look like they're trying to redirect the blame. (Just speculating, I could be very wrong!)

Anyways, I'm happy this is happening, and hoping it will make a big difference!

The post doesn't say anything about using the beta version of USF4.

i'm actually very impressed... not with the actual update (i haven't tried iet yet) but with the fact that capcom is being so responsive to changes in steam and continuing to update the sf4 communtiy on the progress... kudos capcom, i don't hate you anymore :D

Just as bad as before, if not worse. It feels like a different version of SFxT rollback code although I don't know if that's the case.

I really appreciate the effort but I just calmed raged after six matches.
