I still don't know how to play this game.

This is probably the only overwhelmingly positive game I can't bring myself to enjoy. Sometimes I play it, trying to make myself believe that I'll join the gang and eventually like it, but I always jump to another game that I find more fun and forget about it. Maybe it's just not made for me. I guess this review will tell you that.

It's a solid colony management game, no doubt, because it has most of the elements of other great colony sims such as Rimworld or Dwarf Fortress, but whenever I play it, unlike the two games I just mentioned, I always end up with a tedious phase I can't get rid of. The reason for this is that the game solely relies on you for things to happen. There are no real random events happening for you to deal with. Whatever happens in this game is solely relying on your actions as overseer of the colony and are caused by your orders. If you dig in the wrong area, for example, you'll intoxicate or drown your colonists. Alright, that's good, and it forces you to think before doing things. However, once you figure this out, you easily circumvent those issues, or negate them altogether. The colonists solely depend on you for various actions and don't really think for themselves except when it comes to feeding or relieving themselves. It's a very mechanical game that severely lacks spontaneity and the chaos you need, in my opinion, to make obstacles that are fun to surpass.

I don't know about you, but to me, optimal efficiency as my colony grows is what I aim for in those type of games. I like my rooms to be clean and orderly, my logistics to be near perfection, and I hate, hate, hate litter. In this game, crap always lies on the ground everywhere and picking it up is usually a waste of time for your colonists. You have to deal with tortuous looking furniture that looks straight out of a Nickelodeon cartoon or a drawing made by an eight years old kid. I really don't recommend this game for people who have OCD as many aspects of it are highly unsatisfying gameplay-wise and also visually. Logistics is your real enemy in this game - it's what constantly makes you build and seek to improve your colony - because you rarely will feel like your colony meets all the criterias to be 100% functional, and when you do, well nothing happens, you just sit there wondering what to do, then you just go "Alright then... Guess I'll expand" and dig deeper, higher, etc. and cause your own problems of course, like I told you.

The research tree offers various things to research but it seems to me over half of the things are either completely useless, almost useless or just serve as a means to make you wait until you research the really useful things that come later on in the branch. Lots of things you unlock quickly become obsolete when you unlock something else. I feel like a bunch of things you can research in that tree should just be available to you when you start playing due to their overall worthlessness.

Your colonists are alien-looking little creatures that are barely intelligent. They're drones with a baby personality. Don't go thinking they'll be as complex as a Dwarf Fortress character, or Rimworld colonist or even a Space Haven character though. They like and are better at certain skills than others and that's pretty much the depth you're gonna get.

For the pros, I will say the art style, even if not quite my thing, is cute and original and adds personality to the game. I totally understand people for liking it. I can also say the music, sound effects and animations are cool. I also like the concept of a portal that regularly deliver items or colonists - it's a little fun event when it happens. It's gacha-ish, but in a good way. I also like the water pipe, electricity and ventilation systems in this game. The most fun I had in the game is making pump systems with reservoirs and such. But unfortunately, all of this isn't enough for me to give it a thumbs up.

It's a game that looks like an entry level colony sim but isn't, so newbies beware. It starts fast and it's fun to build your colony for a couple of hours, you'll be telling yourself this game is awesome, but then it greatly reduces its pace, gets tiring and repetitive and isn't satisfying in the long run. So yeah, not my thing, unfortunately.
