[Discussion] Ending to the story
The ending's interesting in that it's disputable whether or not Oleg needed to commit suicide. At this point, he would've likely been hailed as a hero had he returned with the crew.

He steps off the ledge at the advice of his inner demon, who have served only to cast doubt within him and make him fail.

Do you think Oleg really couldn't have gone back? I see otherwise; that it's a ironic ending where the fog kills Oleg even though it's gone, through psychology.

That aside, Oleg is only said to have stepped off the ledge. It's unknown whether or not he got grabbed, survived the fall, or indeed died.

The devs have already added the DLC, which I can afford. But I plan to wait until it's at a sale like the VN when I bought it. It's supposed to give answers. The devs cleverly don't give that much information through the four screenshots, so we can't tell if Oleg is alive from there.

(SPOILER) i buyed the DLC and Oleg is missing we playing as Aleksei Evgeniy and Aleksander is alive but never seen Oleg in the DLC i hope the devs make another DLC and working with the Oleg story i hope i can help :D
In my playthrough Oleg didn't commit suicide or anything like that. He continued to live on after the disaster. However, in the DLC, there is a moment where you (as Aleksei) camp for the night with Irina and she mentions Nikolai and Oleg, who disappeared mysteriously some months ago. Then Aleksei says that the two became obsessed with the idea of uniting the humanity (which is in post-apocalyptic "Walking Dead"-like state after the end of the first game). Then they just disappeared. Irina says they're probably killed, but Aleksei doesn't entirely believe this. I hope they make DLC which shows the fates of Nikolai and Oleg.

Hey, I just finished the game and my ending was that after turning the lever in Dubna section B, they went to the roof and took off their masks only to find out the pink smoke was gone and they lived happily ever after. Which important choices did you make that they committed suicide? When you talked to one of the monsters in the house did he tell you about all the horrible things you did and did you fail to reach the lever? Thanks
@ZoutigeJongen It's a linear game, Jongen. All of us have the same ending.

In your first comment you are talking about Oleg stepping off the roof committing suicide. Ah now I see you also mention that he steps back off the ledge. Nevertheless, I never got a scene that they were thinking about jumping. They just wanted to take their masks off and die to the pink smoke.

Are you sure you read it to the end? I doubt there'd be separate endings with one stopping right there.

They're supposed to actually take off their masks but find that the gas is gone, which then proceeds to Oleg stepping off the roof. Also, I never mentioned Oleg stepping back off the ledge.

I just finished the game. They took off the gas masks. They breathed. "Hooray." The End.

No suicide. No hint of possible suicide (except for earlier when they reach Moscow). No stepping off the roof. No ledges. No halluzinations anymore.

I have no idea what the OP is talking about. And yes, I read everything.

Alternative endings, I suppose.
Must've been an alternative ending. TIL.

Thanks.

How did you get your ending? Maybe you hit a certain flag in the game. What are the scenes preceding your ending?

I can´t find detail guides on wich to obtain the differents endings, and i'm certain that exist multiple of them.

The demon taunted me about the times I made the "wrong" decision and got people killed so I think you get the good ending if you save everyone. I didn't bring the brunette from the first train on the second supply run - does it change things much if you do?

Yes, she stays alive if you do.
