Is there a save system?
Sometimes I just want to relax after the boss battle without having to keep the game open.

This needs to be fixed. Wouldn't be difficult to add an auto-save function at the end of every successful level completion.

it's not a question of difficult.

It's a question of why destroy the foundation of a rogue like with such a poor feature.

The save deletes itself when you die. It's simply so you can close the game to continue at another time. Many good roguelikes have this feature, well most of them do, actually.

by the nature of the feature the games are not roguelikes.

it's like calling a singleplayer game an MMO. by the nature of being singleplayer it's not massively multiplayer.

So by stopping the player from continuing a run at another time or forcing them to leave the game open for many hours unattended that allows Wizard of Legend to be considered a 'rogue-like'?

An auto-save would only save when you successfully complete a level. It can also be programmed to delete the save if you leave the beginning portal area of the next level. That way there is no 'save scumming' potential.

The way it is now, the game is just needlessly giving you a major inconvenience if you have other more important things to do in life.

dunno who's life is so busy that they dont have time for a 10 minute game. Next you'll want a save in tetris.

Why do people say roguelikes don't have save functions? The very game "Rogue" has a save function. So do other "roguelikes." Other don't. The way some games under this genre are described and the tags aren't really helpful about certain basic mechanics like this.

Roguelikes doesn't imply no suspended gameplay:

Sorry OP, it wasn't obvious when you purchased the game. :(

why do people claim Wol does not have a save feature?
Pocket Eater 18 Feb, 2020 @ 2:18pm
B/c it doesn't?

Unlocks are saved, but there is no quit and save functions, no kind of suspend play. This is what the OP was asking about.

I think some people on reddit mentioned you can kind of do this on Switch and Xbox, but I don't know how usable those functions are.

do you mean in the short 20 minute things? why would you want to save during one of those? You lose all your momentum and end up dead right after loading anyway.

only reason to add a save on exit would be to let people save scum.

Buddy, I don't know what you're playing but I have runs take a lot longer than 20 minutes. The ability to pause at a convenient stopping point would be an absolute godsend.

then those are clearly doomed runs

This is the most headassery in a thread I've seen in awhile lmao
AsceticG 23 Feb, 2020 @ 2:08am
Yeah I agree. Even that not-so-popular game enter the gungeon has this feature.
