How do you survive a 75 dmg rift?
i for the life of me cant find a way to protect from some of the higher stacks or can you just use what you have and then you need to tank the dmg?

stay in the bubble for enough missions to get 75+ rift protection, it doesnt take that long. 5 purple subsystems.

jea after merging some of the rift subsystems i have got a subsystem for flyers and weapons with 14+
dont merge them until you have extras. Replace your ships existing systems kind for kind, e.g. replace your hydras with +fighter rift modules and you get subspace prot plus bonuses as extra. once all 15 slots are rift, then start merging the extras to get better. Generally end game (intot he swarm) you want +9 fighter slots (10 total), impenatrable shields, regen on depletion shields, +% shields (not plus absolute) and +armed turrets.

jea im already in the endgame dmg is no concerne but the rifts have a tendency to crash for me lost 7 squads of 1.6k laser fighers because it resets you to your reconstruction point the idea is nice with the dlc but stability is a problem in the rift......

I'm having problems just understanding how to get things together. my main ship just destroyed in a rift and is probably gone for good now (unless it can be towed at a repair station), it had a heck of a history, destroyed countless enemies, a few stations, many many missions, built on piece by piece over time from the start. ultimately i didn't understand the mechanics behind the subspace distortion field and that caught me out. i'm going to have a good look into that, luckily i got a small ship that can act as my canary to the coal mine. See what i can do with the reward items given so far and if it works putting them on and seeing how that works in tandem.

As for my main ship, i'll look into that as well, it's no biggie to repair.

you can tow it like normal the repair service is out of this world apperantly XD

I got it back, severely damaged and all, just getting my mechanics to repair the hull and then the rest by the repair dock, should be at minimal cost.

Just going to get to work on subspace distortion issue. it can really erode the hull integrity even with mechanics at 200%.

Real tactical battle, small ship about 3k damage, 2k hull, 8k shield, jumping between wormholes on the map, safe areas and nano repair bots, all the while trying to take out a fast regenerating master summoner and having to get around a xsotan swarm. I'm gonna have to kill the remaining fleet and chase it down, since it likes to do hit and run attacks.

It has been challenging but a worthy one i like. for a moment it was going their way but i have since turned the tables. tip to self: don't bring chainguns into rifts, they are useless or take forever to take targets out.

More learning and i've figured out the upgrades need to work in tandem with each other to build up the distortion resistance, so drop your current upgrades for your ships or build a new one and slot these reward upgrades in place. at some point you need to work out when to move up from the lower threat level missions into the bigger leagues, otherwise you might end up stuck there, especially if you have no scientist captain to give double the rewards per mission.

Edit: Completed it, the core is mine. the regeneration on the summoner was so strong on that ship i literally devoured it a piece at a time once the hull pieces melted under sustained fire until there was nothing but debris. A real bad way to go and a rotten way to go as well. Took some real effort to avoid being killed while going out to kill it. The hostile carrier and fighters tipped the balance throughout the battle. That Lasted about 3 hours.

Not done learning the mechanics, not by a long shot.

Starting to come together nicely, the scientist captain provides 1 rift research every few seconds inside the rift, objects are highlighted with blue targeting brackets you can interact with, sometimes it's a natural curiosity, other times it's a wrecked ship. i even found a an abandoned ship and claimed it, though i couldn't take it with me, it was surrounded in a radiation field and there was a xsotan swarm, i just had it towed and repaired instead.

the various objects provide their own rift data. completing that scientist evac mission can also provide a bonus, i got a free officer that was xsotan hunter and commodore secondary at tier 3 in addition to 15 rift research. you need enough cargo space to collect it, so keep the cargo bay clear if you plan on running a number of rift missions farming that data.

the mission rewards, especially when you can get into the gold rarity subsystems combine very nicely with others, the rewards are very strong. so start off with a few blue ones and make the jump to gold at least the next difficulty mission offering gold /gold reward subsystems and it snowballs from there.
