The Xsotan ship designs dramatically increase in strength when they get shielding, especially their bigger ships they send out.
The Xsotan warped in a large fleet into my sector while i was in the middle of taking out the bounty target, i used that to boost right around the xsotan fleet and they took out the target for me.
Unfortunately not all of the Xsotan warped out, i think they were annoyed i took out a quarter of their fleet while the rest warped away, three of their biggest ships continued chasing me, as i dealt with pirates attacking a hostile civilian ship (long story), the Xsotan came in and destroyed the civilian ship.
Funny way to earn an achievement i hadn't even considered trying to do yet. Well, at least it's out the way.
The long story on the hostile civilian ship that is part of a once friendly faction. Unfortunately this particular faction and another decided to warp in around this equipment dock i was already docked at and started fighting each other, weapons fire from the locals hit my second ship and the captain immediately returned fire and unfortunately the faction declared war against me.
The onus is not on me for starting that conflict as i had no stake in it and i would have had no stake in it if the locals didn't start shooting at my ship. That is something the developers need to look at where unintentional friendly fire is concerned. T
here was also an instance where i accidentally collided with a station and oddly it was considered friendly fire, since it was an accident and not a hostile weapons fire incident. that whole friendly fire rules of engagement needs a second looking at honestly, it doesn't make sense, i should not be at war with a faction that fired on me first and they have the gall to make it look as if it was my fault when they should get on the comms and apologise. My captain shouldn't be returning fire without my express permission either when the other faction isn't hostile.
