I've made my character with 10 Strength and Endurance, and 2 ranks in Shields (max possible initially), and even so my character blocks something like 1 out of 10 attacks, all the rest just goes straight to his Health. In Expeditions Rome shields always block unless you have some special way to bypass it, but in Viking I'm finding them extremely underwhelming. I wonder if I should just go with Dual Wield and/or Two-Handed on every melee character, or if shields become worth speccing into later on, and it...

I was reading some reviews and alot of people are complaining about this timer. I also read that they would have add a option to turn off this timer. Is that corretly? I hate playing games with a timer.

So I picked up this game about a week maybe 2 ago, my first character I rolled up had dual wielding I thought it would trade off your ability to block to use the skills of both weapons, I was wrong, and I know it's a little pet peeve but it's just something that annoys me so much. So might as well just pick up the shield skill and a range weapon to go with it...
