don't worry, Valve will #KillWindows sooner than later. they're known for taking a few years to implement changes that the community wants -- i wouldn't count on TF2 having another 3 years with Windows support. though, on the intermediary, I feel valve may implement a compatibility layer for people who are still reluctant to switch to Linux-- which is still progress

The engine is proprietary, semi-open source project using proprietary closed source technology like Havoc. It costs around US$25000 to gain acceds to the code under NDA, meaning the engine cannot be released to the public without the consequence of law, nowadays you cannot license the code unless Valve got an attention to your project

Killing off Windows supoort means killin off 90% of the userbase, meaning loss for the company and no profits and it means it will go down the same purgatory as DOD:S. This isnt the question of perfomance or superiority, its a question of the game activity which results in game support. Take away all the users and you get a game that is only getting engine fixes and will break down like HL:S

Removing Windows also doesnt mean bots will be gone, you will kill the issue for 7 days and it will be back rampant again. Migration exists

Windows being framed for war-funding is outright retarded. Linux also can and is already used for military uses. Just because the big guy is used in warcrimes doesnt mean the other isnt used. Take Russia for example, they use their distribution of Linux in Government and Military uses. Yes, on thd field they use windows, but they, also use Linux alongside Windows in the main country. Linux is also responsible for deaths of thousands of people in thd ruthless war between countries.
