[It is safe to play again] The Source Code Leaks megathread
Since the news is kind of a big deal, let's center all discussions here. Existing threads about this can and will be fused there.

What exactly happened ?
The source code for TF2 and CS:GO was apparently leaked to the public. For TF2, the codebase seems to be dated around the time of Jungle Inferno's release.

UPDATE 4 : Official word on the Team Fortress side of things (thanks to sleep for pointing it out) :
Regarding today's reported leak of code, specifically as it pertains to TF2: This also appears to be related to code depots released to partners in late 2017, and originally leaked in 2018.

From our review, we have not found any reason for TF2 players to be alarmed or avoid the current builds (as always, playing on the official servers is recommended for greatest security).

We will continue to investigate the situation and will update news outlets and players if we find anything to prove otherwise. In the meantime, if anyone has more information about the leak, the Valve security page (next tweet) describes how best to report that information.

Does Valve know about this yet ?
UPDATE : They do, and have reviewed it. Source.

How will it impact TF2 ?
UPDATE 4 : No impact foreseen as per official statement above.

Yes.

RCE allows stuff like that, Its Extremely hard to explain and i cant do it that much justice

It seemed to be a falling out with someone in a third party associated with VNN, so it seems to be some kind of revenge play. As per usual as with most things on the internet.

Its Unknown Rn about how easliy if at all this can be exploited, offline play should be safe

if this stuff doesn't get valve to make a proper anticheat and make the games secure then it's just a lost cause

Delete TF2 and CS:GO from your PC!
This is the precaution we MUST take. You dont want a malware on your PC, right? Then delete these games until situation gets stable.

It's not just the common audience who dislikes him, but also Valve employees whom he keeps pestering.
His whole "career" and internet persona is built around the fact that he holds monopoly on leaks and insider knowledge from Valve and monetizes it into his channel. He went full damage control when someone else leaked the ending of Alyx (which he knew about and wanted to leak it himself) spreading fake ending leaks, trying to discard the real one.
