Please let me know what error code appears with the failed to authenticate message (near the bottom). That code should help me figure out what the specific issue is. Otherwise, you can try re-installing Melon Simulator (maybe one of the files became corrupt during the download). Sorry for the inconvenience.
The error code stated is "Error Code 1"
I do remember that when i reinstall the game -and not verify the integrity of the game- (which i have both done many times), there's a "steam_appid.txt" that disappears whenever i launch the game for the first time.
I think it's important to note that when i verify the integrity of the files after a first launch, it says that there're two files missing, but that it doesn't put back the steam_appid.txt
It's okay, i appreciate how you are invested in this community, and are trying to help fixing things.
Hope to hear back from you soon, see ya.
I just checked the latest build (1.6.6p3) and it does not include that file. It's possible that Steam is not giving you the latest update for some reason. You can check what version you're running by pressing T and then typing /version and pressing enter (the error may cover the input field but the version will popup once you press enter).
If the version is incorrect, sometimes restarting Steam will trigger the update and/or make sure updates are not disabled for Melon Simulator by right clicking on Melon Simulator in your Steam library > properties > updates > automatic updates. As a last resort you can try deleting the steam_appid.txt file before starting the game and see what happens.
I'm sorry about all the inconveniences, I'm sure you're really busy ;-;
But this is really, like, random, idk
Like it's random, the file might be there, but maybe not, and it may run in the background, but maybe not
aaaa
idk
halp me :c
You can force Melon Simulator to launch fullscreen by right clicking on Melon Simulator in your Steam library > properties > set launch options > -screen-fullscreen1
When i check the task monitor, i can see the game, running as a background task, taking full ram power 'n' all
and i can't interact with it except in the task monitor
And no it's still running in the background :c
I just released a patch that may help you, let me know if it helps.
Okay, now the game does not run in the background anymore, but i still have the Steam authentification problem tho, sadly
But it's okay, we're seeing the light at the end of the tunnel lol
Thanks alot already aha
So i still tried to relaunch Steam two times, and to verifiy the integrity of the files, but it still didn't do anything for the authentification problem
Is it the same error code?
It is, yeah
I will look into it more tonight. Off hand I would make sure Steam is running, there is no steam_appid.txt file in the installation folder, and maybe try running it as an administrator as well.
Yeah thanks alot
But like you can do it tmrw, yk that right ?
Y'don't need to do it overnight
As for your potential solutions, i can't launch the game without steam being on lol, uuh i can't find the steam_appid.txt. file in the installation folder, and i tried to run it as an administrator too :c
And reinstalling the game doesn't make the steam_appid come back
:oof:
Thanks for the help again my man, you're a cool dude
