Portrait Bug?
https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1501983389

Was playing a game as The Red Prince in a multiplayer game and I went to a respec mirror to redo some stats, as a result this happened to my portrait; in case it isn't obvious I'm the blue one. Note that I did not touch in anyway his appearance the first time this happened and even after messing with his appearance this did not change.

Anybody else get this bug/glitch? Anybody have any ideas on how to fix this? It seems we moved from one portait bug in classic edition to another portrait bug in definitive edition, it's extremely distracting to play with this so any ideas on how to fix this is welcome

I just wanted to address this issue and mention that Overwolf should not cause anything like this.

Multiple people have confirmed that having Overwolf enabled causes this problem, and disabling it fixes it. It is not the only cause of this problem, however, and may not be doing so directly.
The fix for shapeshifted characters was a different issue.

This is probably related to graphics driver issues (re-using the mirror on another system fixes the portraits, and one person who reported this fixed it by reinstalling Windows), but the exact cause has not been determined.

Disabling Ambient Occlusion in the graphics options should get the character to show up in the inventory equipment section, but doesn't help with the portraits.

For other troubleshooting:

Try resetting your graphics driver's 3D settings to default (right click an open area of the desktop to start the nvidia Control Panel or AMD Radeon Settings).

Check for updated graphics drivers. If you already have the latest, you could try a clean re-install, to see if that helps. See either of the following, for example:

It happens frequently, its very minor. Just use the mirror again.

No, it doesn't work
Same thing happened here. I've tried everything I can do with the graphics settings and it still happens. As soon as you respec, and you don't even have to touch the character's looks, your protrait goes whiteish-blue when you save and go back to the game.

For anybody else who has this issue. It was overwolf causing the bug. Even during the game, just turn it off and it'll go back to normal. Idk who's fault it is but it's really stupid that this would even happen

Sorry, I haven't got anything. Best thing to do is make sure there isn't any other program running in the background that could be causing the issue. I literally found out that Overwolf was the problem by sheer trial and error of turning off every hidden icon until something happened

Hey,

I'm from Overwolf and I came across this post.
I just wanted to address this issue and mention that Overwolf should not cause anything like this. It is highly unlikely that Overwolf will affect something that specific in a game.
Moreover, it appears that the game's developers are aware of this issue and have fixed it once before, as can be seen here: "Fixed portraits for characters that were shapeshifted when entering the magic mirror".

I understand it's highly unlikely and I get that it shouldn't do anything especially considering they shouldn't have anything to do with each other. I'm just saying what has happened to me and the solution that I found to the problem that I had.

Whenever I used the Magic Mirror in Divinity with Overwolf on, I get the portrait issue, the moment I turn it off, it goes away. Whoever was responsible whether it be on the side of Divinity or Overwolf is 100% irrelevant to me, I just want the game to work as intended and that was the solution for me and clearly it's not the solution for everybody as shown by this thread. I'm just offering a possible solution that worked for me.

I am aware of this patch, however it came out in March of 2018 and I hope you noticed this thread was started on September of 2018, meaning that this bug was a thing even after that patch came out.

Again, I have nothing against your product, I use it for Dota Plus all the time, all I'm saying is I literally cannot play Divinity without errors such as this portrait bug with it running in the background
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Necro'ing this because it's still an issue. It's not caused by overwolf, or any sort of overlay program as I do not use those. It's not caused by out of date drivers, all of mine are up to date. Anytime I use the re-spec, it ruins my character potrait and inventory icon for the rest of the playthrough.

Well hold on, don't say Overwolf doesn't cause this because then they'll take that as an excuse to say that their program is working perfectly because it doesn't.

Do you have any other programs running in the background? Have you tried booting Divinity from a fresh boot to see if it happens even when there's nothing running in the background?

Just exited overwolf and no white portraits now. Highly unlikely but absolutely the culprit. Are you tech or propaganda xD
I have had this game for some time, but have not really played it. I just installed it on my rog ally and noticed that my main character's portrait is white. It is fine on my desktop. I was looking for a fix and came across this thread. Although I am not offering any solution, I was hoping it might be useful knowing that I was having this issue on one system and not the other. My desktop is running windows 10 and the ally has windows 11 installed. I am not using any mods.
