The Amazon (blanking on name) does have distinct advantages over Thorgrim.
To start, the basic attack is able to hit any enemy (Yea!). While she doesn't have a stun, she can get a multi-hit off of her second ability through traits if you want. Unlike Thorgrim, she also has a buff, which is nice.
Exploration wise Thorgrim can tank traps and sniff out treasure, but the Amazon is able to negate mechanical traps and rearrange an enemy party with a small amount of damage. If that last ability doesn't sound useful, imagine moving those pesky enemy mages to the front line or mixing up the amazons so they lose their buffs.
In camparison as tanks it gets a little tricky. Thorgrim can easily have the most health in the game plus good resistance and parry. The amazon on the other had does have less health, but the amount of parry that you can get her is rediculous. Currently I have her at 68% parry chance, plus 15% parry buff she can grant entire party.
Poor Orc!
Vampire second attack can reach backline, and with the right gear she will always go first.
Amazon's basic attack can reach anywhere, her middle ability can bounce to multiple targets, and she tanks hardcore.
Ranger does solid damage, second attack has reach, gear can keep him consistently second in initiative.
Herbalist is best healing, hands down. But she is also amazing DPS. AOE a whole row, or slice up targets as a basic attack. Plain win.
Mummy, combined with the heal over time of the herbalist, is simply the most amazing DPS. All his powers have reach, secondary can be upgraded to give a great heal over time, and AOE a whole row synergizes with Herbalist similar ability to mean you can kill three enemies with two attacks. He will never run out of mana, since you can manage his health easily, and combined with the herbalist getting the "regains mana when healing" ability, means they are a duo that will not only deal damage, but easily support the front row.
This is my crew, I am pushing past round 160 in the tower, and all of them are still able to 1-shot preferred foes with their basic attacks, or AOEing down groups with their big powers.
Did you try the orc since the balance patch? Is possible to tell us what you think about her now?
make your team go first by using Druid's root ability before battle and you can wipe the enemy with all the AOEs on turn 1
