First of all, sorry about this issue. Oddly enough, someone just another day emailed me about a VERY similar situation, described just like that. But that person couldn't recreate this issue, it just happened completely randomly. At some point it just stopped happening to them after they restarted their computer. So, first of all, I'd suggest doing that.

Can you tell me if it only happens when you have the Steam controller plugged in? It could be that a recent update on OSX caused this issue to happen to more users, but that's just a guess. I'd also try unplugging other devices in your computer that could be interpreted as input, because it sounds like something could be interferring somehow.

Again, sorry about this, and I'm sorry that I don't have a concrete, objective answer to help you through this issue. I'll be waiting for you to do these small tests for me, hopefully it addresses the issue or at least helps us identify a possible cause.

I just played a good amount without a controller and it seemed fine. I didnt have anything plugged in before other than the controller. I also tried restarting with the controller in and that had no effect in alleviating the problem. So it is most likely the update in conjuction with the controller.

I'm glad you were able to play without that issue again. We are currently investigating the possible cause of it to prevent it from happening to other players.

so I'm currently experiencing this exact same issue (also using a controller on Mac)

it's been inconsistent before – the game will freeze when I try to interact, I'll re-start, and then things will work find the next time I do the same interaction – but this time it freezes consistently every time I try talking to the NPC who sells you stuff at this location: https://imgur.com/a/PslbO0v

I'm going to try switching over the keyboard for that one interaction and see if it works then

UPDATE: nope; just tried using the keyboard and it still freezes when I attempt that interaction

UPDATE: after re-starting Steam I was able to do the interaction as normal, so it seems like that's the fix (when I'd gotten it working before it must have been because I'd done a full re-start). Still frustrating though – makes me scared to do any interaction before saving immediately before
