So. The game is not updated and these are reasons why.
Pandemic happened. It halted work and employees had to still get paid. It happened to many many companies, burning money and keeping offices lit despite unable to work, rent and the programs they were using to develop their games I remember something of them being quite pricey to upkeep every month, assuming many devs that need good tools would spend that much.

Pandemic was mainly the reason why we lost out on a lot of content. After game release the marketting didn't work out and mostly cause of the game's not delivered features were cut away from roadmap due to limitations they had. It sucked for everyone, for both the players and devs, but mostly for the studio at the time:

They lost 50% of their staff. The loss was huge on their side, people lost jobs cause they couldn't be kept due to struggles in their company. They couldn't support them after that.

Simply, things sucks. People assume a lot of things in comments here or elsewhere, but those are kinda the reasons why they couldn't work more on the game.

Excuse me but please explain how a pandemic stopped people whom WORK ON COMPUTERS from working? They can work from home like every other game dev did.

Don't excuse these people for abandoning their game.

They are still making new games so its not like they ran out of money. They just realised that this game wasnt going anywhere and they were too far down the path to fix it.

Likely it made developing much harder from home when all the equipment is in the offices, assuming they couldn't transition most of equipment over to people's places considering it would take money time and people not using personal computers for work/not having the files on them. I'm not sure how in Canada it works but many countries shut down work for many companies to keep people at home for prolonged times, I don't think you realized how severe the situation and how drastically many governments took upon by stopping people from going out or interacting to slow down COVID.

They had the money, they had the people, they worked for a good while but pandemic happened and updates slowed down. I know another studio had similar issue and had to do hard transitioning to make work at home for a while but that slowed updates, not to mention they had to sell 51% of shares to keep that company's employees working and ensure their future.

BYG is an indie studio, these things hit hardest when there's noone but you backing yourself to make product and world wide event like this happening governments stopping work would cause a lot of damage. A lot of people been affected. It's not only BYG. Excuses can be made.

It just happens.
