I had a similar question, first I was interessted, probably because it made me think of ghost trick for some reason, but then I had to think of escape room since it looked a bit emtpy in the trailer.
I mean i guess it#s nothing like Syberia 1 and 2 that I played before?

i liked Syberia (1 & 2) very much and i can say it doesn't compare from my point of view. the riddles in Goetia are more complex imho on one hand, and a pretty different kind of stuff on the other; in Syberia, the riddles had a mechanical character, that's not the case in Goetia imho. and honestly, i don't even know the room series by now

okay thank you, that helps me a bit to make my own opinion/decision. I wait for a sale I think since I believe when I made the comment I could get it for less money.

edit: okay I just saw it is on sale, uhhmmm is the game empty or do you have characters or something in there that talk a bit and entertain you this way?

You made it sound as if it's an "Escape the room" kind of game which probably means only the riddles are there.

the story is some kind of a mystery thriller in an old abandond mansion and you're playing a character who has long since passed away but wasn't even aware of that. So you're digging in your familys history for the reason why the mansion has gotten abandoned. by now i've got only 3 hours in the game - just bought it as it's on discount right now ;-) - so i don't have too much experience in this, but i really like it.
don't want to tell too much, but i can say that it seems as a majority of the family members were deeply engaged in spiritual topics, so you'll probably meet that kind of other characters in the game

Hhhhmm alright, not sure if that is a dealbreaker for me or not since I haven't played many games like that but this sounds as if your mostly alone as a character.

yes, that's true. there are some conversations with, let me call them entities, but not that much
I know I'm late, but I've played both this, and 3 of The Room games, and I'd say.. some of the graphics and atmosphere are similar, but that's where the similarities end. Since your profile is private I can't see if you have this or not.. but if you'd like to play a similar game that's free, to see if you like it, I'd recommend PRICE.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/465520/PRICE/

Gameplay is very similar. Atmosphere and layout of things are similar as well. Puzzles in Goethia are... different though. Price is .. friendlier there. but puzzles in The Room are intuative and I can't say the same really for either of these games. Price is better with hints than Goethia though.

I enjoyed Goethia? but I was also kindof just exploring, reading things, finding out about the family.. while following a guide for everything else. There's a couple spots where you can get stuck too if you don't do this. >< I was able to figure out most of price on my own, but Goethia's.. yeah. Follow a guide.
It reminds me of Year Walk although it's not nearly as abstract. I think I only solved one puzzle in Year Walk without help.
