NEKOPARA Vol. 2

NEKOPARA Vol. 2

Lag in the video-scenes of the game
my problem is that although I run perfectly games like the cs: go, bayonetta, outlast, and I just realized that the Dota2 also, when passing a video-scene in a visual novel like nekopara or others (they will not find the others because I do not play them in steam) I have too much lag in these, do not exceed 20 fps, and if it happens only for 5 seconds , I hope to receive help, all the required information I will gladly provide ^^

The only videos in Nekopara are the OP and ED. By "video", I mean media encoded in video (and audio) formats, just like you'd see on YouTube, for instance. The rest of the visuals are animation that's rendered live; only the images themselves are pre-drawn (although the E-mote system even manipulates those, by moving, rotating, warping, etc., to make the 2D images work together to create the illusion of 3D characters). Maybe you're referring to something other than actual video? Can you describe it? Maybe give an example.

I don't know if I can help to solve this, though. I don't know why visual novels have such poor performance sometimes. You wouldn't expect it. Even in one with as relatively advanced graphics as this, it shouldn't be anywhere near as taxing as a modern 3D game, right?

i'll be a little embarrasing, but the +18 escenes are lagged, i tried to fix it but whatever i do is useless

Ah, those. Yeah, those have full-screen animations. They must be the most taxing. I guess it makes sense they take more processing power than video: the latter have the benefit of much hardware acceleration. These animations don't run at a terribly high framerate for me, either.

FYI, they made the animation in Vol. 3 even more detailed. I don't mean the H-scenes, specifically. All of them. They aren't as smooth for me as in the previous volumes. I wonder if the different engine has something to do with it, too. I don't know. But fair warning for you.

so, it's a problem with the game?

I don't know. Most people don't seem to have an issue before Vol. 3, at least. It may be best not to blame it entirely on one or the other. You might not have the best hardware, or there might be a problem in your drivers or whatever. But also, the engine in this may not be the most efficient.

FYI, NEKO WORKs used the "Kirikiri Z" VN engine and "M2" E-Mote system for this; both of those can potentially contribute to any performance issues, though I don't know to what extent they do. For Vol. 3, they switched to the "CatSystem2" engine.

That's a "Sandy Bridge" (2nd gen. Core) Pentium. Makes sense. My CPU at the time was an i3-2120 (3.3 GHz), which I do believe is higher performance, and it still wasn't that great with this. No discrete graphics, though, just using the CPU's integrated graphics, so that may have hurt performance.

Same as I had, coincidentally enough.

CLP $29.000 per Month
(Note: "." is the thousands separator here. In the US, we use ",") For those not familiar with the Chilean Peso, that's about USD $40, GBP £34, EUR €37. Though I imagine the cost of living must be lower there.

CLP $480.000
USD $700, GBP £560, EUR €620.

Maybe it depends not only on teh Engine, but also in CPU and RAM,
Definitely.

i would be FIne if my PC supported Intel Core i3 or Higher, but with the Motherboard being HM70 instead of HM75, it only supports Intel Celeron and Pentium. With an Intel Core i5, the PC forces Shutdown after 30 Minutes,
Wait, you know it doesn't support i3, but you've tried i5? I wouldn't think that would work either. Also, isn't emergency shutdown usually because of overheating? If it works at all, then theoretically it should be possible to do something about the heat, though the solution might be expensive.

Sorry for necro-ing but if by chance it's still lagging, maybe try to change the setting

Firstly, point your mouse to the uppermost screen (when fullscreen, if not then it's right below the white Border of the game)
then, after you see the tiny bar appear
go to advanced setting (enable it from help section).
From there just go Video Rendering Method > Auto

You can also change some settings to fit your PC spec, and also apparently it was set to layer for me, and it lag like alot (for a gaming PC). Again sorry for necro-ing (also glad it helped).

I finally have a Gaming PC, it is an ASUS TUF Dash F15 powered by Intel Core i7-11370H and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop GPU, but only 8GB of RAM and 512GB of an SSD, and purchased all games on Steam, but i'll still pirate the Special Modes
