Barracks and stations
In the last update the option to upgrade garrisons to barracks was removed. I get why, but i quite like the idea of having proper fortifications dotted across the map. For one it makes it more of a challenge to conquer the map (ok mostly it's because i like big fleet battles xD), and it would reduce the cat and mouse game. Sadly i didn't make a copy of the previous version of the game files, so i have nothing to compare...
Also I wan't to be able to make longterm upgrades, with 5 or 6 tiers, which the barracks would allow for, the fleet power is easy to tweak once the barracks are enabled.
Also i wan't to increase the fleetpower of stations (again, i like big fleet battles...) but i somehow have failed to find the appropriate files...(going blind maybe?)

I would appreciate any help on the following:

- how do I reenable the barracks upgrade?
- or is it possible to add additional tiers to garrisons as an alternative?
- which files, in general, regulate the fleet strength of the stations? Any one example will do.

If requested, I'm perfectly happy to share the mod directory once i've made it, that way others can easily make their own tweaks and versions...

Sorry if these are noobish questions, I'm quite new to this.

Thanks for any advice :)

I've had the idea in the past on securing the stability of the zone but there was too much other work on the side that I couldn't pursue the idea further. The Barracks mechanic is exclusive to Titans campaign and it is further "hardcoded" that any tier above 3 for forward outposts will produce problems in regular game mechanics so I'd advise to keep your tiers below 3 counts. It would be possible to create a separate entity of outposts and essentially have an barracks upgrade without influencing the overall stability of the game(to change the model to the new one, starting with the first tier). As for the fix that was required it will reduce tiers of your battle platforms down to 3(once per save/new game). Unfortunately we had to implement it this way. You can still work around it by having your own scripts that avoid it but then you'd be required to keep up to date or risk getting your mod blacklisted if it affected regular game functionality. The decision to "hardcode" it the way it was is because there was little time to do so and there were no mods that were affecting the functionality that was decided to be "hardcoded".

All of the noted possibilities are somewhat complex and would require some time and insight.

1) Not in the regular way as it is hardcoded but you can try your luck with changing outpost to the new game model on the third level

2) If you want to keep Vanilla game stability(Titans campaign) then no.; If you don't want Titans campaign support then you can do it if you somehow skip from third to directly fourth "BuildLevel"-"tier value"

3) Related file: Data\Models\Platforms\Outpost\platform.def -> if you want to keep Titans support for your mod make sure to take it from the DLC1 folder instead of the regular game Root folder.

My suggestion for your needs/mod would be to just do the 3) and increase values for first 3 tiers of the garrison. But in doing so you will also strengthen rest of the AI in control of those garrisons. Explaining other possibilities would require me to essentially write the mod myself and that would take too much of my time :/

I'd been fiddling around with the platform def file from both versions. But then I'll have to make more of a project of it.
Giving the Ai increased power would actually be welcome, so I'll just increase overall strength for outposts :)

Thank you very much for the comprehensive answer, I really love how you guys are involved on the forums and take your time to answer questions properly ^^
