Hi Ghostie! Could you try updating your drivers and verifying cache files on Steam (verify integrity of game files)? Make sure to also turn off any mods if you're using them and try playing that way to see if any of them are causing stuttering.

I have no mods running. I did the file verification. It was missing a file. So Steam fixed it. Just had a smaller battle, but it still stutters and lags when there is weapons fire. Like I said, my computer should be able to handle this, as the other games I play are orders of magnitude more demanding, and I have no issues.

So, I have tried a multitude of settings. HBOA, LOD, shadows, Fog. I've turned them off one at a time,, thenn all at once, turned down detail settings, the whole nine yards. Even on the lowest quality settings, I get stuttering and lag EVERY time a battle occurs. I've turned on the "Prefer Max Performace" option in the NVidia control panel, verified the game files, everything I could thing of. This is a 4 year old game. I shouldn't be having this issue. But I am. Any and all suggestions and help would be appreciated.

I've also updated the graphics drivers to the latest. During battles, the game becomes unplayable. (which has been happening, and not because of the drivers)

Hey I suffer from the same issue, it stutter even in the prologue fight near concordia. I have a GTX 1080 and a Xeon 12 cores. Both CPU and GPU are barely active when this occurs.
Where is that log.txt file located?

Hi Nico, you can find your log files in Steam folders: Steam\steamapps\common\Starpoint Gemini Warlords\

Funny ... I'm playing this game in 2025, with a machine only 2 years old and this exact same issue still happens. I'm surprised it was never resolved. And since no amount of setting changes, even today seems to fix the extreme stutter that happens in game, it really does impact play. It's sad too ... as it's a pretty fun game. I'm trying to get through it, just to enjoy the game play but it's not easy.
