Like... Make it so that in the singleplayer mode, it's like Diablo where the number of players and selected difficulty affects the numbers, strength and HP of the enemies. The singleplayer mode in the game feels like an afterthought, since the enemies in the singleplayer mode are designed with at least two players in mind.
Also, maybe instead of simply showing the playthrough stats simply adding a death to your total when you die, have a Sonic Forces style "TRY AGAIN" message when you die, then have the game auto-load you back to the spot where you last cleared a horde of enemies.
