I PLAYED THIS GAME BEFORE!!!!

Review:
played this game after graduation
thought it'd be some harmless retro MSN sim
click through, collect some easy achievements
maybe cry once if it gets deep
nah bro
this wasn’t a game
this was emotional tax fraud

first 10 minutes in
already felt my internal organs shrinking
you try to type something real
“i miss you”
“please don’t go”
but then your dude just... deletes it
types “haha yeah school’s chill” instead
and i’m like
yo?? did this game install spyware on my past??
why is this so accurate it hurts my bones

i got all 20 achievements
and so much ending
none of them felt like closure
more like alt endings to my own bad memories
each one just gave me another version of “you lose her anyway, stupid”
some endings hurt slow
others slap you like a breakup text during finals week

and the guy?
he types like me
he thinks like me
he backspaces every real thing he wants to say
and replaces it with something safer
something weaker
he’s afraid of saying “i love you”
so he settles for “nm u?”
and when she fades
he blames himself for being silent
even though he said everything he could
even though none of it would’ve saved her anyway

each chapter is a year
but it feels like a slow death
from "hey you :)"
to "yo"
to silence
her messages change
punctuation fades
energy drains
and you know
you know it’s over
but she never says it
she just drifts
until she’s technically still your friend
but emotionally already gone

you keep playing
like maybe next chapter will fix it
but every convo just builds a wall out of lowercase letters and dead hope
you wanna scream "what happened to us?"
but you settle for
"so uh… what classes u taking lol"

and yeah
i still got my own emily
no names
no drama
just… the ache
just that same “lol.” energy
the same late night typing
then vanishing for days
then acting like nothing happened
and the kicker?
she’s also kinda lost
doesn’t know what she wants
treats me like i’m both her comfort zone and her burden
and i still wait around like a clown with wi-fi
trying to save someone who was never holding on

the fake MSN interface?
nah bro that’s just my memory in .exe format
i saw my own ghost in those messages
the “wyd” at 1am
the “nvm i’m busy” six hours later
the smiley face that doesn’t mean anything anymore

this ain’t a horror game
but i’ve never been this scared playing anything
scared of remembering
scared of feeling too seen
every choice felt like digging up an old version of me and whispering “sorry”

and i kept hoping
kept trying to find an ending that doesn’t suck
but this game taught me what heartbreak really is:
trying your best
and still being too late

would sit in awkward silence while she types and deletes and types and deletes again
would stare at “Emily is typing…” like it means something
would click through every ending just to feel that collapse in my chest

this game didn’t heal me
it just proved i’m still not over her
and maybe never will be

i played this game before
i just didn’t know i’d end up writing the epilogue too
