So i reloaded a save from the previous day, encountered a completely new game-breaking bug where the barrel that is meant to fall and break the lose planks didnt spawn at all... forcing me to reset the game and reload... but at least the gallows spawned this time and I could finish the game. What a frustrating experience. Lovely art style, great writing... but tedious gameplay and incredibly buggy. I want a sequel... but play test better next time.
