The game says local co-op so if that means splitscreen i will be very happy

Are these broken? I have a gold medal in every single level, including the secret stages, and none of these have popped for me. Is anybody else experiencing this?

Everytime I go to Verses it comes up with the following... Error: Controller Driver XINPUTI_3.DDL Is missing or not supported I'd really love to play this with a friend, happens if I have two controllers connected or just one, basically it always happens lol, help?...
