Patch 1.21
Hi Guys,

Our Christmas patch is now out of beta - it is an automatic download on the main branch of the game. Thanks to everyone who fed back on the patch in our forums, we're assuming you were all officially on Santa’s “nice” list this year and got everything you asked for.

You’ll be pleased to hear that we’ve adjusted the AI for a few bits and pieces, most notably on the refuelling. Full patch notes are below. Bear in mind that you’ll see race AI changes at the next race if you currently have a race in progress.

- Fix to barriers being visible on some Tondela track layouts.
- Practice & Qualifying: AI cars now leave the garage in a less uniform manner and this leaves space on the track for players to slot their cars in to for the ultimate timed lap.
- Safety Car: AI cars now make better strategy calls on when to pit under the safety car.
- Refuelling: AI cars now make better judgement calls on how much fuel to use to get to their target lap count.
- Refuelling: AI cars no longer fill up their entire tank when refuelling during a race, they’ll now attempt to optimise their fuel usage based on how aggressive the team’s strategy is.
- Driving Style: AI drivers will no longer push too hard if it’ll impact their race pit strategy.
- Driving Style: AI drivers will now push more if they know they’ll need to stop for more fuel before they’ll need to change for new tyres.
- Engine Failures: AI cars will turn the engine down if they are experiencing an issue with it.
- Tyre Lock Ups: Reduced tyre wear when a driver locks up under braking.
- Cars on flying laps in practice and qualifying are far less likely to be held up meaning qualifying is more competitive.
- AI cars on a flying lap when the weather changes will finish that lap if they have yet to post a lap time.
- AI cars will change their driving style in response to tyre temperatures.
- AI pit a little earlier when running on hard tyres.
- AI make smarter weather change decisions.
- Retiring cars move out of the way again.

So the newest patch live right now should be 1.21.12284+20161220.1202, is that correct? I kinda missed the updates and beta since steam's server problem earlier.

Oh and thank you devs for the update.

Doesn't appear to be the case in the latest patch. They don't ever pit.

Or correction they seem to pit and repair the damage before continuing on. So they aren't really retired in the first place.

I agree with Prasiatko, I'm not seeing retired cars disappear in the game.

Do you actually have the update? My steam didn't download anything, or is there another delivery system?

If you have 1.21 it´s the right one. I just have pulled out of Beta now. It doesn´t download anything but the version seems the right one from December 20th.

. The AI cars now change there driving style every second or so as there tires over heat, flipping from conserve to push to backup to nutrual so fast it looks like disco lights.

Retiring cars no longer retire, they will pit, repair then come back on track. Although they do mover out of the way for other cars they now interfer with the race as they are no longer governed by there damaged engine and blast around the track trying to pass any cars they can. they are now like blue flag backmarkers on steriods.

Also Car Livery's still do not show up during the races. Makes the DLC kinda pointless.

Seeing the same, re: retired cars not clearing. I came 19th to a car that was ertired and placed 18th earleir today.

This patch is great. No blue flag issues, no qualifying mess and some teams are harder to battle during race now. I like so far.

It looks like a logic error by the AI mid race. If you save the game and reload it, the retired car is in the pits and out of the race.

Looks like the biggest bug here is that Evans finished ahead of Santa Ana xD

I get what you're saying, but that's a workaround to the bug. This shouldn't be necessary.

Very low tyre wear like 19% doesnt affect AI speed.....they are still running at 350kmph and overtaking. :steamfacepalm:

Saw a car driving around at 0% tires and didn't PIT, just kept driving like a slug :)
