So basically, I'm thinking that this series takes place in the same universe as Nekopara, but in the past, probably a few decades before. Hold on

Now Ninjas and Shinobi are described as a "dying breed" and there are demi humans. They're gonna get found out eventually, and they did. Basically the catgirls are a nerfed continuation of demi-human ninjas because mass-producing a bunch of catgirls who can shoot fire and spawn insects is a really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ terrible idea. They still have superhuman feats though, so they aren't nerfed TOO badly.
