It’s been almost a year since the original launch of Flat Kingdom, and the game has improved a lot and received new updates even to this day.

We’re constantly working on improving the game, fixing bugs, adding new features and keeping the game stable, balanced and fun.

We’ve got some plans for the next update, but now we want to ask you: what would you like to see? maybe there’s a bug that we never found? a feature you would like to see? an area that was maybe a little too difficult or too easy for your taste? a slow or boring part that you did no like? we’re open to all kinds of suggestions!

We want to make this game as polished as possible, and your help and feedback is invaluable to us. You’ve played it before, so maybe you’ve got a few ideas. This game is for you, after all, and we want it to be the best that it can be!

Boo! Happy Halloween everybody! To celebrate this ghoulish holiday, Flat is now in his special Halloween costume! You’ll be able to play as this new spooky Flat for a limited time only! So what are you waiting for? Scare the bad guys and save the Flat Kingdom!

You’ll be able to use this costume until November 7th! After that, Flat will revert to his non-spooky self. So don’t miss this chance to save the Flat Kingdom as a monster hero!

-Difficulty: Now enemies on the Noobie setting just do a quarter of a heart of damage, while the enemies from the Hero setting do half a heart. This will make the game a lot more forgiving and youíll be able to experiment and make mistakes.

Hi dear players,
we have been monitorizing your comments on the forums and did some minor fixes in the game to fix your reported issues, thanks! This 1.0.4 update also adds the Portuguese language, so now many new players will be able to understand our game in their native language (we plan to keep adding new languages in future updates).


To celebrate 1.0.4 update and to thank you all for the continuous support to our work, Flat Kingdom Paper's Cut Edition is 50% off during this whole week, also the Deluxe Edition bundle, that includes our OST by the incredible Manami Matsumae (Megaman, Shovel Knight) and the artbook, with over 100 pages.

Hi folks!

we have only a couple days until Paper's Cut Edition goes public! So after several successful tests with some fans and friends during the past weekend, we decided it's a good time to let you try it out! we invite you all to take part in the Flat Kingdom Paper's Cut Edition closed beta stage. It will last only a few days, and your feedback about it will be really valuable for us!

Will explain you how to access the update:

The most important point we are testing with this closed beta stage is that the old saves don't get lost/overwritten with the new 1.0.3 update, because Fat Panda found the way to keep using them after the update and continue playing your savegame without the need to start all over!

So to test this is working well without taking any risk, first thing I recommend you is to backup your savegames, they are located under: C:/users/youruser/AppData/LocalLow/Fat Panda.

Once you have a copy of your saves in a safe place, go to your Steam Library, select Flat Kingdom and go to Properties in the contextual menu of the game, then go to the Betas tab and finally activate it using the password "PapersCut2016".

That's all, at this point the game should be updating to 1.0.3 and you should be able to continue playing from your latest savepoint (if you've already beaten the tutorial in previous versions), or start over from the very beginning of the game and enjoy all the new cutscenes and tutorial we've added.

This update is really important to us, as we want to address some key issues with the game (you can find the full list below). Hi everybody,

It’s been a while since the last update, but that only means that the upcoming 1.0.3 version of Flat Kingdom will contain quite a lot of improvements and fixes, so many that we decided to rebrand the whole game as Paper’s Cut Edition, due to launch on next 22nd of June. We collected the feedback from players and industry professionals and did our best to come up with as many improvements as we could add during the last month and a half. That’s a tight schedule, especially when you compare it to the 27 months of development time behind of the whole project, Fat Panda Games has been dedicated to improve all the aspects in the game, from narrative to visuals, gameplay, some enemies’ design, we’ve localised the game to Russian and German (thanks to Evgenia Tarasova and Marcel Weyers) and even improved several sounds and added new ones (thanks to Yoho Arsenal).

The most relevant and visible change in this update relies on the main character of the game. We know it’s not normal to redesign main characters, but after talking to players and game developers from our community, we discovered that Flat needed an evolution to improve its consistency and personality into one that fits better with the narrative context and aesthetics of Flat Kingdom. Now we really feel this is the Flat that really belongs to our world. Hope you like it too. We’ll publish an article during the upcoming weeks with an analysis about the whole creative process behind this unusual, but necessary, change.

We have managed to keep your old saves, so after updating you will be able to continue playing from the point you were at before. The only requirement you need to keep playing your old save is to have finished the tutorial in the previous versions of the game. Nevertheless we recommend you to start over in order to enjoy all the new cutscenes and the new tutorial we've added in Paper's Cut Edition.

OLD POST
Sadly not all the consequences from updating to 1.0.3 will be good. We’ve been doing some very significant changes to the game that have impacted on the savegame format, meaning that the already stored savegames from previous versions of the game won’t be compatible with 1.0.3 and this update will overwrite the save game files. We have been researching possible ways to convert those saves to the new version without success for now, this is a very complex task that will keep working on during the week we have until release. Cannot guarantee anything else than our best effort to keep/convert your saves (know that in any case your Steam achievements won’t be affected by the update). To compensate this damage, we’re going to giveaway a free game and a DLC code (includes the artbook and soundtrack) to each of you who already have Flat Kingdom and also have some progress in the game. If you are one of the affected players, please register on our mailing list[gamesstarter.us13.list-manage1.com] and we’ll get in touch with you through email and Steam to verify your purchase and also send you the codes.

Hi everyone,
based on your super valuable feedback, in this new update we have tweaked several things related to the game design. The most common report was that the game could be a little too hard or frustrating (especially when fighting bosses) so we tweaked it to make the fights more fair.

For those of you who enjoyed the original challenge, we kept it on Hard Mode. Now you can play on that difficulty from the beginning without the need to unlock it, so give it a try if you’re feeling brave!
