So Staxel has 2 versions, Linux Staxel CE the default that installs if your Steam OS & Windows aka Staxel with mods.

Want Staxel with mods uninstall Staxel from your Steam deck,
now find the game go to properties then compatibility,
now force the use of a Steam play compatibility tool & choose proton experimental,

Not done yet go up to general go to launch option make sure Staxel is set.
Now just install, it will install the windows version.

I have had steam deck run mods in the past cut paste file situation with another windows pc which I no longer have.

This error comes up & is to be expected sense the dev made Linux default there's no way to get these files to detect by the game even manually installing into the Staxel folder :

Also throwing out one can use Lutris to get these required files as well or proton trick but this too seems to not work..

Man this game is a sad mess..

Nothing I do detects the direct x, net etc..

I have no idea this game is apparently old & junk,

anything that works for other games doesn't seem to work for this one.

I put what I learned out thoughts hopefully maybe one day this game can be made to run on Linux with mods by a side human


there use this info however you want doubt will get far sadly..

but without mods for me this game is not fun,
the only way I see this game running is by having a windows pc & copying all the files / folder over to the deck unless you can find a way to install the needed stuff.

I gave up I do love to tinker being disabled it's one of the things I do best, but this game is giving me a headache so unfortunely for me it was a waste of money as I only re bought on Steam for mods.

Here is all my mod sxl files & the installed mods do with it however u wish.
