might be more fun to implement a way for a high-cargo ship to be for solely you / your fleet and never considered as part of the standard outfit supply, nor it's cargo / bunk space counted, only things / crewmen specifically placed on that ship get on that ship, and vice versa. then you have to keep it alive and intact, too. but give it some bonus, like your fleet could restock crewmen and expendables from it when you land on any planet, even uninhabited ones, without an outfitter. or something. just spitballing here, but I could see that as a mod.
on the other hand, reading isn't that difficult, nor is not selling off what you intended to keep, either. :-)
It's been a long time since I sold an outfit I didn't want to sell.
That way it's still easy to cash out pirate farming loot by double-clicking the button, but if you make a mistake you can buy the outfit back.
