The game cannot enter every room, and saving and exiting are invalid. Can't I quit the game???

I tried on 3 different saves, with +150 cash

I own both, but I don't think my ADD can handle playing 2 in a row because they look pretty similar. The story doesn't seem that deep (or maybe it is). So my question... Do you think I can pick up playing Punch Club 2 if I never played the 1st? Or does some sort of story continue? Without spoilers. I'm okay with: "You should play both for story," and I will :-)...
