after the giveaway.. put it up on all platforms for $4.99, and use it to promote an updated version of the game on ue4 or another modern engine... not UE5 since that runs like crap in general vs 4 even for similar-identical detail levels..
this game would have done alot better if they wanted 3 months after overwatch dropped.. by then enough ppl would have been looking for another game to main... launching against overwatch was like when they dropped tribes vengence between doom and halflife game launches.. we(the whole bloody community) begged them to hold off a few months.. or at least a month minimum... publisher wouldnt listen.. :(
yeah they kinda borked things up when they released so close to Overwatch, like even though the games are pretty different, them being the same genre meant people were going to compare, and Blizzard has the far superior name.
i dont know that it was as much superior name to not having launched anything big since.. what ... WoW... and people expected big things...
the 2 games are shooters but the gameplay is NOT the same...
if the cut the price to match overwatch and delayed offical launch till the overwatch hype dropped some.. it would have done soo much better, every friend who bought both preferred bb to ow.. it wasnt even close for alot of us.. it was just... for me "this feels floaty" for OW.. where BB needed the extra time to get the maps sorted out and quash bugs...
honestly... i was taking to a buddy whos wife also played the game(first game he bought her).. and she makes a good point... BB could make a great basis for an MMO that had BB style arenas for PvP... i could jam with an openworld version of the game... honestly sounds like it could be a blast..
i mean this is pretty much 1:1 what happened with Tribes:vengence... they launched that between doom3 and hl2... had they delayed by 3-6 months like the community was telling them, the bugs in the game would have been sorted, dev kit ready and it wouldnt be directly between 2 massive releases that were from much larger better known IP's..
though.. tribes had some serious market penetration due to how easy it was to pirate.. that also lead to alot of real sales though from what some of the original dev team said... i mean... if a game was good people bought a copy when they could afford it...
so many old games that got screwed by launch windows and poor support..
and dont get me started on all the vendor specific features and enhancements that were quite common for a while there..
