Keep us posted!
Maybe then you'll then understand why so many people were accusing you of it.
Maybe then you'll own up to making a mistake, instead of having to pretend like you're not human and above such follies as so many other developers tend to do. You know, show us you're human beings who can apologize properly and admit when they screwed up.
All in all, this is too little, too late.
Oh, and way to lock the threads discussing the issue earlier. You may have completed the game, but you haven't corrected the "problem". Your ethics are still up for discussion whether you like it or not. Go ahead and exercise your moderative authority where you actually possess it. You can engage with us in discussion here, or you can force us to tear your reputation to shreds on other parts of the Internet you can't administrate, it's your choice.
It's bad enough you were accused of being liars, now you're opening yourself up to accusations of speech suppression. You're not a big corporation, you obviously don't have a PR manager, so stop trying to hit us with all this doublespeak, come down to our level and humble yourselves.
"We did a very stupid and careless thing. We misled our customers, we're truly sorry for what we have done and we promise to never deceive you like that again." -- How hard is that?
Even if it DOESN'T have that problem, wow, even the cheapest of free Ren'Py games manage to avoid those kinds of embarassments, and I'm even counting the crappy MS Paint joke games.
In any case, thanks for letting me and others know that this game is still early access quality, despite the store page listing it as a finished title. Pardon my negativity and all. *tips fedora*
Your post was locked for being low-effort trolling. "Developers can't stand the cuck" isn't any way to open a dialogue.
I think we've addressed all instances of this. Did you see any in the latest chapter?
Sadly, I haven't gotten there... Yet! I seemed to see a few cases of clipping in case 1's dialogue during the courtroom session. Not exactly sure where they were as I didn't keep them in mind.
If it helps eliminate any processes of finding what caused it, I was using fullscreen at the time; on a 1920x1080 resolution.
You could have replied to those threads with a quick "Issues resolved, check the latest update!" post instead of locking them without replying to them at all, giving the appearance of ignoring people at best and shutting them up at worst.
The dialog was open already and people were being more than civil until they noticed how much you were ignoring their pleas for explanations and updates. Thinking that the only issue was with the bugs and not with your ethics, you closed that incomplete dialogue, and I opened it up again in the form of another thread.
And still, even now that I've finally got your attention, apologizing for doing a terrible and deceptive thing is somehow beneath you.
There's a bird pun to be made here about "swallowing" your pride but I'm too angry to properly formulate it.
What you call trolling, I call tactics. I wanted to draw your attention, so that you would maybe -- for the very first time -- engage someone in discussion who is calling out your ethics. It's sad that the fans who were being more assertive didn't deserve your reply, and that it took a person like me to get you to care to respond at all, but I'm still glad to know that my tactics were effective.
<parental_tone> Now, what do we say when we lie to people? </parental_tone>
One thing I can promise you is that I solemnly vow to drop this issue as soon as you apologize to your audience and promise not to deceive them again. The only other way to get rid of me is to ban me from this community, so I leave this as one final test to see if you have learned a thing or two about public relations. Everyone else can then pass judgment from then onward, and history will be written however the developers choose for it to unfold.
The ball is in your court, Sketchy Logic Games.
Any amount of apologizing is irrelevant, except to the ego of someone who's life has apparently been ruined by what, in the grand scheme of things, is a pretty minor pecadillo.
Several major game companies habitually release games in a 'finished' state that are hopelessly bug-ridden (apart from eye-candy) for the first six to twelve months after release. The Aviary Attorney team is small by comparison and clearly needed to pay some bills, and if they can't make the rent, the game won't progress.
I'd be much more interested in the developers focusing their attention on issues of substance, and from what I've seen that's precisely what they seem to be doing. Improvement beats contrition any day of the week.
Am I pleased with everything that I've seen ? Of course not. Sections of the game probably need a re-write to eliminate jarringly anachronistic adolescent colloquialisms (some of the comic effect clearly depends on breaking the fourth wall with a certain level of anachronism, but the use of the word 'like' to blurr the distinction between direct and indirect discourse is immersion-killing -- whatever that means -- and seems neither humorous nor neccessary). But I haven't played enough of the game to weigh in on this yet, and right now as far as I can tell the developers ont d'autres chats a fouetter.
Faces filled with joy and cheer
What a magical time of year
Howdy Ho! It's Weasel Stomping Day
Put your Viking helmet on
Spread that mayonaisse on the lawn
Don't you know it's Weasel Stomping Day
All the little girls and boys
Love that wonderful crunching noise
You'll know what this day's about
When you stomp a weasel's guts right out
So, come along and have a laugh
Snap their weasely spines in half
Grap your boots and stomp your cares away
Hip hip hooray, it's Weasel Stomping Day
People love them down the street
Crushing weasels beneath their feet
Why we do it, who can say?
But it's such a festive holiday
So let the stomping fun begin
Bash their weasely skulls right in
It's tradition, that makes it okay
Hey everyone, it's Weasel Stomping
We'll have some fun on Weasel Stomping
Put down your gun, it's Weasel Stomping Day
Hip Hip Hooray, it's Weasel Stomping Day
Weasel Stomping Day
Hey!
Yes, I was annoyed that 4C took over two weeks instead of the promised two days AND the devs were silent about the situation almost the entire time. Yes, the people who bought the game have a right to be upset it wasn't released with the Early Access label like it should've been. I got upset and joined in the chorus of angry voices because this whole thing could've been mitigated if the devs had been more open - if they'd admitted BEFORE launch, not after, that 4C simply wasn't going to be ready, and if they'd given us more updates regarding its progress.
But all that's over now. It was a first-time mistake by first-time devs. And you're looking like an utter idiot attacking them further.
