It works just fine when using Proton 5.0, besides it being in pure black and white instead of "yellowy".

to me is a black screen, any solution?

Maybe you could try putting it in compatibility mode (some newer version of proton ideally)?

Proton 5.13, not 5.0, works for me.

Bought this in 2022 finally got it to work with the suggestion of Proton 5.13 means I get pass the black screen. I did not want to play it on my desktop and was waiting for a steam deck fix but could never get it to work till today, have downloaded it and deleted it a few times when couldn't get it to work. I can confirm 5.13 works but get a message that my computer does not support shader effects and won't look as it should. This is not a big deal instead of the yellow old timey sepia effect it is black and white better than not being able to play it at all. Going to start a play through just now.

Yep, that is the one limitation of using such an old proton version. But like you said, it's at least playable, and you still get to see all the art at the end of the day.

Proton Hotfix seems to work for me too, and that has no shader warning and shows the sepia toned illustrations.

The current hotfix shows a black screen for me, unfortunately, and worse, even the older proton version gets further but chokes during launch. I guess this game is now unplayable for me.

Hi friend this is super late to reply but the 5.13 version is still what makes it work for me but I also added this to the launch options and it's been working perfectly on deck: PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1
