New achievements, seriously?
Why adding those nonsense achievements?
2000 hours is ridiculous enough and now 5000 hours, really?
96 core cpu? 256G ram?
???

some people have computers like that but if you are not willing to sacrifice your money for achievements... use S.A.M

Wow, that's so helpful, I don't even know you can use sam to unlock achievements.

LMAO.
The cheapest cpu with 96 cores is EPYC 9734 that costs 9600 bucks, or TR 7995WX for 10k bucks.
Yep, ppl with this kind of rigs still need this crap ware to run games.
Thank you, I will research it and most likely switch since I saw absolutely no visual change in CPU processing when playing a high level graphics game.

Achievements are still in development and are not final. the extreme ones were added for completion / future proof and will most likely not end up being available now, we appreciate your concern and welcome any suggestions as well!

The suggestion is simple, do not add any more achievements, especially when they depend on hardware - or software, come on, manually start 100 different games? - that people may not have, or that may not even pop up even if the requirements for completion are met.

Time or instance based requirements are silly and may be seen as attempt to "buff" Steam stats of this application. Let people use this on its strengths and merits, not due to its achievements.

The new achievements takes away a sense of accomplishment. I spent 2000 in game hours to achieve everything! Might be time to give in to Uncle SAM.

Also, new purchasers may want a way to get 100% completion as well - they can't with one achievement requiring the purchase of a game before the major update.

Steam users enjoy completing all of the achievements for games, and the previous heavy hour count ones were already over the top, not to mention that those time-gated achievements didn't even unlock for most due to whatever issue there is/was. Introducing more, new achievements after such a long time, especially hardware related, is a terrible decision.

I hope so.

Will achievements based on time spent be redesigned, specifically the principle of earning them?
manually start 100 different games? 2000 hours played?

-laughs in steam library size of over 500- I mean, it encourages you to dust off some of your old greats you forgot you had, that you ignore for the new shiny of the month.

as far as the hours... check the hours you have played on your favorite game.... your top five. maybe top 10. add them up... getting close? probably. if you are so casual a player that this isn't the case, then you wouldn't be worrying about fps now would you. not to mention... RELAX you will get there eventually anyway! it will just happen. why rush? trying to be the first to 100% the game? it's not a peleton, stop sweating.

Check threads in the past 2-3 years, you will see a lot of people having issues unlocking the time based achievements.

Either way, the 2k hours achievement is one of older ones, so that is not the main issue at hand here,

Yes, manually launching 100 games is unreasonable. Besides being a needless pain to do it, not everyone has 100 games available, Seems they reduced it to 50 though since last time I checked.

Running it for 24 hours straight is even more so, as it entails leaving your computer on for 24 hours as well.

Okay, My original though process was: future-proof the app, so when these things are available, we will be ready, and I wont have to fish out my old Photoshop file in 10 years. however, I am not an achievement hunter, and so I didn't realize how important they were to some people.

We have heard you, and achievements will be fixed to be reasonable, and we will add more as the hardware jumps forward into new levels at ordinary consumer prices.

TL:DR: We will fix this issue. <3
