I hate to say it and I hope I'm wrong...but this appears to be dead.
Honestly, i'm a little worried. Not sure where the developer is located, but I hope they are okay with everything going on in the world this day and age.
But who knows, he could be in the hospital, or anything else.
CPUCores ADVANCED is almost ready for delivery, and I am making a quick trailer now as part of the Steam requirements.
It is a long and hard road to test these kinds of things, so many different hardware configurations are available, and accounting for a variety of them is possible, but the full aggregate of hardware and software combinations is very difficult to plan for.
Some bugs will still be in the software, due to new hardware being used with it (I have only so many computers to test on) and we will have a system to report bugs, and have them fixed ASAP.
I'm also not dead, or missing. But, IRL I do have a very sick son right now, and a pregnant wife I am assisting. Nothing could be more important than my family, and I understand that the release of this new software has been the price of that. For that, I am hopeful that the community will remember we are gaming, and having fun. But family is always more important.
Stay tuned, soon there will be a release, even if far delayed what we expected.
I 100% agree about your family, nothing is more important. So take care of them! Thanks for letting us know what was going on, I was at least some what concerned that something may have happened to you.
My best wishes for your son and I pray for your wife to have a safe birth! Thank you again for letting us know! Stay safe and stay well!
Hey Dan, what has happened to CPU Cores Advanced? It's been removed from Steam. Could you give us an update? Is it still being worked on or is it canceled?
We got some bad news back in December from Valve. They rejected our software package release, and indeed removed the ADVANCED version from the store completely. Their reason stated was a shift inside Valve to move away from Software and Apps in their store, to a more Game focused platform.
This was a huge blow, and a huge shock to the team.
We can always release the software on our website, but it won't ever get the reach, or the number of subscribers that we have here on Steam.
We are working on trying to find a solution, and we will have an update as soon as we either work it out with Valve, or figure out the alternative solution.
For now, we are working on modifying the software to work standalone without Steam integration, so we can sell as a standalone product on our website, but it's not quite secure and ready enough for release.
This has been a really long journey, and to be shot in the leg in the last mile was a really tough blow, and I won't lie... our collective mood plummeted following the initial Valve decision.
We will continue on though, and we will figure out a good solution.
Keep your eyes and ears open. And if anyone has a good idea for us, please email me: info@cpucores.com.
Thanks!
BTW, I heard some of the achievements are broken. Any news on that front?
On a side note, I also am very curious about the long awaited achievement fix as it's been quite a while now.
This is indeed sad news on all fronts as I loved being able to purchase software on the Steam Store, though i have to wonder about their message to you as there's definitely new items on the store that were released in Jan 2023. So, is there some kind of contract behind those releases, are they playing favorites, or what?
I'm happy to buy CPU Cores Advanced from where ever you decide to release it at, but there has to be something you can do to get it on steam. Maybe adding some kind of small game too it, I don't think anyone would mind, no matter how stupid the game was, if it allows you to add it to steam.
I feel reasonable okay for speaking for everyone...if there's anything we can do on our end (Like sending steam a message letting them know how we want CPU Cores on the store) then let us know, I for one will do it.
