Say:
AI #1 - Fashion industry and then you could select if they're already there of a newcomer to the industry (like yourself). This would make for interesting barrier of entry scenarios.
AI #2... so on.
You could also just RANDOM the 2 values (Industry and when they start)..
I'm not sure how the codebase is done but if the AI "starts" after x amount of time; have it start when the game starts for newcomer AI.
As far as "already there" then some coding would have to be made for used land / buildings and simulating what they're selling based on their industry (randomised or not)..
Cheers!
There should be a possibility to choos what they do or it should be nessesary for ALL to start in a simple Industry. So you have real competitors from the start up
There is nothing to suggest it isn't. The problem is you are not being put in a situation where anything it is doing is immediately noticable or of interest to you.
The devs have said the AI acts as a player would, so much so it will try things and fail at them.
The problem is I have yet to have the AI directly compete to showcase just how much like the player it behaves.
The player interaction and relation with the AI right now is extremely detached but if it's progression and paths is proof of concept this shouldn't be too hard to make a reality.
EVEN if there is some scripted hand holding going on whereby perhaps they player makes a significant income jump or gets on board with a new product out the gate that is very successful could act as a trigger to have the AI aggressively compete in that catagory.
All sorts is possible and it doesn't all have to be completely offloaded to the AI itself some subtle triggers would still offer a great new layer of gameplay.
I like the idea and I am currently discussing this with our coders :) To add such an option would be possible I guess altough we need to make sure that it does not make it even easier for the player since, as you said, some of you are quite seasoned veterans on this field and I guess you would always outsmart the AI and therefore it could be over even faster ;-) But we are looking at some options right now and we will keep you up to date with it !
Thanks for your suggestions it is much appreciated !
