Simple suggestion to make the AI more challenging
I mentioned this in another post I made apologising but I feel this is so simple and will have such an impact that I don't want it to get bogged down by the rest of that post.

Quite simply - why not have an option in the game creation that toggles the AI as being in direct competition

All this would do is simply set atleast 1 of the AI as having the exact same product line as it's starting option.

Right now I feel like I am completely immune from challenge beyond my own logistics and economical juggling in the start of the game because there isn't a competing product.

Having an option for more advanced players to really kick in the challenge would seriously do alot for the longevity and replayability of this game for me personally and I am sure other more hardcore tycoon/management fans would appreciate this little addition to.

I suggested this because it is my belief based on the way the game works this would not require tremendous time and resources to implement and would give players like myself something to keep us quiet while more long term changes and/or commitments are made.

You guys are really onto something here. The balance of streamlined - complexity in comparison to say the Capitalism series is almost spot on ... I fully understand Multiplayer would be a big big commitment and that is fine but some tweaks and changes to the AI would really ramp up the bang for buck on this game.

My main concern right now is that without any serious challenge things are gonna get stale and repetitive fairly quick and that is just such a shame when all the foundation is here for something REALLY good.

Thank you.

What about being able to choose which industry the AI has already a foothold in?

Say:
AI #1 - Fashion industry and then you could select if they're already there of a newcomer to the industry (like yourself). This would make for interesting barrier of entry scenarios.

AI #2... so on.

You could also just RANDOM the 2 values (Industry and when they start)..

I'm not sure how the codebase is done but if the AI "starts" after x amount of time; have it start when the game starts for newcomer AI.

As far as "already there" then some coding would have to be made for used land / buildings and simulating what they're selling based on their industry (randomised or not)..

Cheers!

Well yea that's basically the same thing though I like surprises so if i had like 3 AI picked to know atleast 1 would be direct competition via the option would be in direct competition but beyond that it would be random.

All of my AIs start in the Car Industry and run, so it seems, after 3 years out of Money. im wondering why the AI Choos such a dificult Industry for the start. Is there a Bug ?
There should be a possibility to choos what they do or it should be nessesary for ALL to start in a simple Industry. So you have real competitors from the start up

Just having the AI be good would be enough.

There is nothing to suggest it isn't. The problem is you are not being put in a situation where anything it is doing is immediately noticable or of interest to you.

The devs have said the AI acts as a player would, so much so it will try things and fail at them.

The problem is I have yet to have the AI directly compete to showcase just how much like the player it behaves.

The player interaction and relation with the AI right now is extremely detached but if it's progression and paths is proof of concept this shouldn't be too hard to make a reality.

EVEN if there is some scripted hand holding going on whereby perhaps they player makes a significant income jump or gets on board with a new product out the gate that is very successful could act as a trigger to have the AI aggressively compete in that catagory.

All sorts is possible and it doesn't all have to be completely offloaded to the AI itself some subtle triggers would still offer a great new layer of gameplay.

Hey folks,

I like the idea and I am currently discussing this with our coders :) To add such an option would be possible I guess altough we need to make sure that it does not make it even easier for the player since, as you said, some of you are quite seasoned veterans on this field and I guess you would always outsmart the AI and therefore it could be over even faster ;-) But we are looking at some options right now and we will keep you up to date with it !

Thanks for your suggestions it is much appreciated !

Maybe it was my settings, but I felt like the product line was too big compared to the number of players. Never found myself with a reason to directly compete.
