Did you assign a key to your drone parts? If you play through the tutorial, we force you do manually assign keys to each drone parts so you learn to do those steps by heart. If you don't assign any keys, then your keyboard inputs won't do anything.

If you assigned your keys:

Is it possible you're playing as "programmer captain" in survival or you play in the online modes like "Sumo" or "Brawl"?

In those specific modes you *have* to automate your drone with sensors and logic parts. We therefore deactivate inputs. If you want to control your drone with keyboard/mouse, please choose a different captain in survival or play sandbox. In those modes there's no input-blockage.

I hope those helps a bit. If this wasn't the case, please tell me and we find another solution :)

Having the same issue here...

Playing v1.1.4 on a desktop PC (Win10, 64-bit). It's not just the gameplay. It's not recognizing the keyboard itself. I'm unable to bind any key at all, either in the tutorial (Can't even do the first tutorial, for obvious reasons) or the main menu. Can't even hit escape to cancel binding in the main menu.

I know the keyboard is working, since I can Alt+Tab out of the game (And type this message... Heh). Tried unplugging/replugging the keyboard, relaunched the game a few times, toggled full-screen. No luck.

Any idea what might be happening? The game is unplayable like this.

Let me reword the issue. The game does not recognize my keyboard inputs, I am able to click and assign mouse buttons in game and in the key bindings settings page, but no keyboard inputs can be used. Seems to be more of a technical issue than a game play issue.

Same issue here. The game does not see my input. I can type a name for my drone, but when building or testing no input works.
I cannot use any keys to move or duplicate parts. I cannot use my scroll wheel to rotate parts. I've tried reinstalling the game now, no dice.

Same bug, couldn't use hotkeys in the drone building part of the tutorial to move parts, delete them, or assign keyboard keys to thrust. Mouse keys worked.

Found a solution to this issue. I first tried messing with the beta branch, going back as far as 0.9.6, but that had no effect. Then brought it back to the latest version and turned off the Steam Overlay, and that did the trick.

Right-click the game in your Library menu, pick Properties, go to General, and click the checkbox to disable the Steam Overlay... Somehow the overlay is interfering with their key bindings, and turning it off makes everything work.

I tried Xentor's suggestion, but it did not solve the issue for me.

That did the trick. I unplugged my controller and then started the game, seems to work fine now!

Disabling the Steam overlay fixed it for me.

Same Issue, unplugged controller worked for me. Steam Overlay still in uses and works.
