[SPOILER] Chicago Tribune
I don't think this is a very good puzzle. It forces the player to find information from one specific source, which might not be available in the near future. It isn't even freely available now, since you have to register to use it, unless you use a tool/plugin to find the sources loaded in the background.

The Bible puzzles, on the other hand, works, since that book is freely available, and has been digitized numerous times, so anyone has access to it, even if they don’t care about the contents of it otherwise.

Other good examples of such sources would be classic fiction in the public domain, such as the ones available digitally in the Project Gutenberg library. (Note that I'm early on in chapter two, so I don't know if this is the case.)

The Chicago Tribune puzzle, however, is problematic, and in my opinion, it should be removed. It's bad enough that games become obsolete because of closed technology like Flash (and in the future, perhaps Unity3d); they don't need to also be made obsolete by the hands of their creators.

Hello.

Thank you for your advices.

Nevertheless, the chicago tribune archives have been available since more than 50 years, and will probably become available a lot more. If they don't, we will update the game to provide a similar level difficulty.

Currently, to find the answer to the game, you don't need to register anywhere or to use any plugin.
Just type "chicago tribune archives 08 13 61" on google and use the first link.

They are many other methods available to find this piece of information.

Be assured we understand your concern, but we really think that through.

Thank you again,
Blue, Cime Team.

Are there more puzzles that will require google-fu? I like the in-universe solutions, it's kind of annoying to wonder if I can find the answer in fake emails the game contains, or have to go online for real-world info unless it's obvious from the start. Ruins immersion for me, which was otherwise very strong up to this point.

My first thought reading these emails was that I would have to either login to a camera which could look at the desk containing the paper, or that would show the actual TV in his lab. After trying the most popular brand names, I came here to find my fears justified and just looked at the guide.

IIRC, those two (Chicago Tribune and Bible) were the only ones.

The Chicago Tribune archives have since been updated to require payment to access them. Please update the game as soon as possible.

The game is broken. Chicago Tribune want people to pay to view their archives. This unfortunately ruins your game bro.

You can hide some popup windows on CT archive site with developer's tools in browser.

Now it's impossible to find them, bc you need to be a subscriber to the online database.

Confirming that as of 2018 April 4, old issues of Chicago Tribune are mostly behind paywalls. The one at newspapers.com offers "free trial" access but still requires a credit card. I wouldn't be surprised if the Chicago Public Library's site has it for free, but it requires a library card for that system. My own public library's site has many newspaper archives but not the Chicago Tribune.

Unlike the claim of the developer above, the trend with this & many other kinds of information is paywalls.

I'm okay with puzzles I'm not clever enough to figure out, but not with puzzles that require access to paywalled information. Unfortunate because the game is otherwise very nice.

This was the only way I could get the answer without giving my info to a sketchy publisher site, or trying to get through their paywall via exploit.

I like the google fu stuff devs, but this needs an update now that the tribune is stuck behind a paywall

For your information, The official Chicago Tribune web site is one of the many stupid US sites no longer accessible to European. And several of the other sites with the digitized versions don't provide all the pages.

This really turns me off. I remember playing this on Kongregate, and I remember enjoying it very much. Finding it here on steam is a coincidence, and I considered purchasing it. But now I'm not so sure anymore.

I do remember when it was still on Kongregate that the Chicago Tribune archive was still free. I know that It just only for this one puzzle, and I can easily find the answer. But it really bugs me that the dev hasn't addressed this problem.

I did just like the devs suggested. Typed chicago tribune 08 13 61. Clicked the first link, encountered the paywall. Tried to remove certain elements only to find that they use tiny pictures for previews, which makes it absolutely unreadable. This level therefore has been compromised.
MakoSipper 2/fev./2019 às 3:29
I found it on newspaperarchive, but it's not available in my country. Used VPN, but it only goes to page 18. Another reasons why this puzzle is a bad idea... =/

If you require players to look for information somewhere else, make sure you have control on players' access to that information.

It really ruined the mood for the game...
