Empyrion - Galactic Survival

Empyrion - Galactic Survival

Which planet should I choose to start on?
I am about to play the Empyrion again. I might actually choose to try Reforge Eden 1. But i cant decide vanilla or Reforge Eden 1 which planet i want to start on. I am on a hard burnout of the game, like playing with cpu and volume turned on. I just don't know where i want to start again in the game that will hopefully capture me into the game that i love dearly. I don't mind challenge but I generally want a start that is able to help me focus less on events that happened earlier today that i wont bring up here on a game forum and to also help me get into the game again for another run.

Stick with vanilla to get a baseline impression. If you decide you enjoy dungeon running with a rifle and a pocket full of bandages for loot, give RE2 a try.
Clearly didn't read the OPs post.

If you want a challenge in the game vanilla skillon. In RE1 try sienna. If you want relaxing do akua or some other planet with oxygen without a CV/MS hunting you down.

RE1 isn't supported any more and you might run into issues.
It all depends on how hard of a start you want. Some of them are damn near impossible. Especially with hard settings.

Im pretty sure i wont run into many issues, considering its just changing specific aspects of the game that already existed without changes being made to them. Either way if I do have issues i can play an older version of the game that is on my other computer where i still have the mod when it was supported. I just never ended up playing the mod during that run years ago. That was back when the starting planet was still just a planet and not 4 moons around a gas giant.

I been playing empyrion since the first alphas where the green walls of the edge of the worlds preventing north and south poles where pesent, same as when there was just planets and no stars, just akua, omicron, and a few others. So i already got an impression on how vanilla is. I played the game a few years ago after i noticed it was finally out of early access. And after all the bad reputation RE2 is getting due to bad sheilds and balance, I rather try RE1.

You know you only proven my point. The op isn't new to the game. They already have an impression on what the gameplay is like in vanilla. They are asking what planet they should start with in vanilla or RE1. You read it to where you assumed they are new to the game. Which they clearly aren't.
Important question: how many years has it been since you last played?
More than 2? I'd recommend vanilla.

3 maybe 4, but since that point it was since 2017 or so. So i know the gameplay of what is in the game now, the only change since last time was they changed starting planets to starter moons.
Yeah that's a big difference at least until you leave the starting system, plus it would help refresh your memory of the game's mechanics. RE2 is intended for experienced players who are looking for more of a challenge. Same with RE1 except it's got quite a few issues that were fixed in RE2 so I don't recommend it.

The gameplay is still relatively the same since last time i played. just the starting planets where turned into starting moons and the quest starter polaris poi is on omicron now where as before it was on the starting planet i believe. I can be wrong on this. So not much as chanced, now what has changed since 2017 was the big green borders on the north and south poles are gone, there is an entire galaxy and universe. Trading is now also a thing. But also thanks for recommending RE2 but i would prefer the first one after all the issues RE2 has. Bot much has changed besides aesthetics really in terms of the vanilla game as a whole, still the same set up and more just on a moon with teleporters which you can use to teleport between the 4 moons orbiting a gas giant.
You're missing CPU, mass/volume, AI changes, shields, a new flight model, weapon rebalancing, factions, etc. Depending on how much you played the last time you played it could be a very different experience.

Just keep in mind if you do decide to play RE1, it's going to be much harder.

My last run i was playing with cpu and volume enabled. My ship i made had sheilds, T2 by the end of my run. and more. you can view my screenshots if you need proof of that run. I am already familliar with everything you just mentioned. I am not new to the game.

What he said !
RE 1 all the way though.

If you re-start vanila, it will be a nice experience, and it is great on its own.

RE1 is the way, imho.
It is not "worked" upon anymore , but is updated to the new game versions all the time, and even, at times, they fix some "bugs".

Thus RE1 !
...

Or ...
"RE1 - Atlantis", based on RE1, and you get the Star Gate Atlantis MANY extras ...
Then I guess if you want to experience the revamped storyline and the new starting moons play vanilla, whichever starting moon appeals to you.
I don't think they added much more content for vanilla outside of the starting systems yet (though the upcoming exp branch adds a new UCH storyline).

If you want something different, possibly much harder to varying degrees, you can play a custom scenario like RE1. That has 15 starting planet options and a lot more content once you get out into the galaxy. Just be warned though that it's unbalanced (often NOT in favor of the player) and has some issues and won't be getting any support or bug fixes beyond easy to apply critical compatibility fixes for game updates. I cannot recommend it anymore personally, but some people do still find it enjoyable so you can definitely give it a shot.
