I am playing levitation tutorial, how do I activate rings? Do I jump down them, up them or balloon them? Does the order matter? What with platforms with bolt icon?

So ive been wanting to play this game for a while as i got it as a gift from a friend, but for some reason whenever i boot it up, it plays the starting cutscene just fine, but when it takes me to select a bed which im assuming is the save files, it completely glitches out. the main character just runs in place, certain graphics seem a bit off and i can only move between beds it seems, not actually start a save file. Any help would be massively appreciated! sorry if this has been asked before or if this is...

Does anyone have a save right before Black Velvetopia where you could just collect the last 2 golden helmets and pop the achievement? I used the 9999 lives cheat pretty early on and will need to replay a huge segment of the game. Or are the save files editable in any way to get the helmet? Hopefully the save file you have hasn't used the 9999 lives cheat yet because it somehow bugs the achievement....
