I think she's pretty clearly the main character, even there is a focus on a few others almost as much as her (and only a few others). Having played the game many times, despite it being one of my favorites the majority of the cast gets as little development as random Chrono Cross characters do, or even less.

There is no main character in this game and if there is it would be Celes, Setzer or Edgar since those are the only 3 characters you are required to have after WoR in order to beat the game.

Honestly if I had to name a "main" character in ff6 it would be Kefka.

Even can be said, Terra is the main in WoB whilst Celes is of WoR, the roles switched, but both are amazing and connective in their own unique way.

However, there really is no set main protag, as anyone could be it, even if their development is not the same length as the other.

She didnt pop up first. The one that gets spotlight first is the main character :)

Link is the main character since he shows up first. But i always called him Zelda as a kid

"Spotlight first" does not mean main character; it's all about development. Final Fantasy games are known for often having two "equal" MCs. In this case, Terra/Tina and Celes/Ceres would be it. In FFVIII it's Squall and Rinoa. In FFIX it's Zidane and Garnet (AND Vivi).

And in FFVII, it's obviously Vincent Valentine............. okay fine, it's "KURAUDO"!!!.... but Vincent comes in at a close second, with Aerith and Tifa lagging far behind, and Barrett trying to hold onto them with his one arm.

If you play as the guy first and gets the main focus, then its the main character, period.

What is a Terra/Tina? Did they add a new character "Tina" to the PC version?

Terra has to be the main character. They don't show anyone else's parents banging halfway through the game.

Locke is the main character.
