Now in the case of TWD there is no killer, so instead we got the actual intro theme from the show. This is of course a licensed track as it wasn't made by BHVR. That might have factored in the decision to not include it as standard when playing any of the characters.
Maybe that's also why with the latest patch it was removed and replaced with the 'other' TWD theme, which you can also hear when you queue up as one of the three characters.
What? That may have been true in the past, but Lara gets her own theme. I've watched all 8 seasons of The Walking Dead, yes all 8, and I don't recognize this music. The Walking Dead theme is a staple of the show, for Rick, Daryl and Michonne to NOT get that music in the survivor screen is a travesty. But honestly, the whole DLC sucks. No real walking dead map, no real VO work. I feel bad for the people that bought it, what a ripoff.
However, there are also those fragments from Fear of the Dark by Iron Maiden and The Dying Song by Slipknot when equipping associated cosmetics, so it's not like they are not allowed to keep licensed music in the game for extended periods of time.
Or maybe this was negotiated differently. Either way, it is what it is, I guess.
We all know what the reason is. They cheaped out. They cheaped out on the VO work, they cheaped out on the music licensing, they cheaped out on making a map. They did all this, by the way, while charging you a premium for this DLC and another $10 for the privilege to play as Daryl. They are making so much money from these DLC's to not include all of the things mentioned above is a borderline scam.
They're going to keep testing to see how little they have to spend on making DLC to produce the most profit. And all of these gullible fanboys are going to keep lapping it up. It's sad really, this should be a big controversy in the community but the focus has been on how bad they patched the game.
Also, it's been $10CAD for 2 character DLCs for a while, maybe 5 years. Resident Evil DLC packs are 3 characters and $15CAD. So $10 for Rick and Michonne is nothing new. Prices haven't really gone up for DLC in at least a few years, if you want what you're asking for they might have to increase it by like 50%... and then people would complain they're being greedy for charging more to do more.
And, inflation is a thing. Game prices went up when PS5 came out and AFAIK DbD DLC prices stayed the same. Now it is 5 years later, not only is inflation worse in general, but I am in Canada (so are these devs), Trump's tariff war with us isn't hitting us as hard as he probably hoped it would, but it is having an effect. All this means cost of living for everyone (including BHVR employees) goes up, so not raising prices means you might have to cut somewhere. But again, not that I've really noticed cuts.
Also, general game prices are going up, thanks to Nintendo leading the charge on that (Mario Kart World is $110CAD if not from the Switch 2 bundle, Donkey Kong Bananza is $100CAD, they just raised prices of many Switch 1 games in Canada by $5 likely as some sort of response to the tariffs). Gaming is fun, but it exists in the world we live in, that has an effect on gaming whether we like it or not.
