In most cases, it's a program used by a player that runs the game 24/7 to farm blood points and iridecent shards, only to sell the account then.
I am sorry you had to deal with this, I know how frustrating it is :(
The difference is usually quite easy to tell. If they are smart about it, they are probably real. If they struggle to pathfind, walk into rocks or trees and possibly even get stuck, they're bots.
I've seen a survivor get stuck in a tile and running into a corner for the duration of a whole generator, since they couldn't pathfind to the gen around the wall haha
100% what happened in some games. Found a lara croft and she was just sprinting into a rock.
Farming bots have always been a reportable offense since 2017 when they first started getting spammed cos 10 shards per match. It used to primarily be a killer just m1'ing on the spot all game. So idk where or who you got your information from.
