Backing Up Save Games
Steps to back up your Dead by Daylight save files:

  1. Find your Steam profile saves folder. It can be found under the Steam installation: Steam/userdata/[yourID]/381210/remote/ProfileSaves.
  2. Copy the folder, or its contents, to a backup location.
  3. To restore the file in case of save game loss, exit steam (make sure the process is closed and not just the window) and copy these files back to the location where they were found. If Steam mentions a conflict between the local and cloud files at any point in the process, you’ll want to select the local files.

Notes:
  • If you're having trouble finding your Steam folder (step 1), it is usually found under Program Files or Program Files (x86).
  • You may have multiple IDs in your userdata folder; if so, you can use https://steamid.io/lookup to find which one is yours (it will be the number part of the steamID3).

PSA: Backup your saves. - Steps inside. Use at your own risk
There has been a number of people losing all of their data due to save/cloud corruption. We strongly advise you to make backups of your save files whenever convenient to prevent a complete loss of all your progress.

Your saves are located in your main Steam Folder --> Userdata --> IDNumber --> 381210 ---> Remote --> Profilesaves

Keep them safe!

The Dev team are aware of these issues and will continue working towards a better system

It is not recommended to use a 3rd party software to do this.

I created two bat files to make the copy and to restore it if needed.

First I created a SteamBackup folder on my C Drive.

Then I created ProfileBackup.bat

cd c:\SteamBackup
del Profilesaves /q /a
rd Profilesaves
xcopy "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\IDNumber)\381210\remote" "C:\SteamBackup" /e

Then I created ProfileRestore.bat

xcopy "C:\SteamBackup" "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\(IdNUmber)\381210\remote" /e


If you have more than one folder under userdata, you are going to want to use the one with the most recent date/time, that is the number your replace int he above lines.

PLEASE NOTE: Your Steam folder may be in a different location. Be sure to verify what drive you have it installed it on.
