One of those ones.

I'm freshly here after wrappin up the story experience and really all I'm kinda left with is just "wow." I've been through about half of the Final Fantasy series of the course of my life and I'm genuinely upset with myself that I didn't go through this sooner! Going through the journey (and you'll especially see it with the towns your members are introduced in) you can tell that this game was very much a project filled to the brim with love on all aspects and gladly gave me several moments throughout the game where I was ugly crying out of pure happiness.

Thank you to each and every person who worked on this and thanks for givin me some damn good memories to look back on, I loved this game.

Final Fantasy IX always intrigued me personally for what makes many consider this title to be the greatest Final Fantasy, and even one of the greatest JRPGs of all time. This review is a bit shorter than other but to simply express my thoughts regarding FFIX I think its greatest strength was the charming cast with probably the most livliest Final Fantasy world to date. The dynamics between characters is probably the greatest although for me personally I thought that Zidane was a bit of a weaker protagonist compared to how Tidus, Squall or other protagonists were written. My main problem with Zidane is how the game is written for Zidane and Garnet to be together but even though Zidane is sulking for her in one moment he goes around and flirts with other women, this does not necessarily make him a bad character but it makes him a weaker one. This isn't really that big of a deal as the story's themes about guilt, fears, grievances, and how to move forward is brilliant and something which is definitely appreciated in this day and age.

The more important aspect however is the combat, is it good? Yes, it carries over the real time turn based system from FF4-8 with its own twist in the gems system. To simply explain what the gems mechanic is, it simply makes it so that each character's equipment has gems infused in them with abilities. One can use the ability as long as the equipment is used however you can learn this ability if you fight with the specified equipment for long enough. It is a bit tedious especially for the tanky characters to level up their character specific abilities, but it becomes bearable once you get the airship and find a way to farm AP. The more common complaint however is the "trance" mechanic, it's exactly how it is in FF6 in a way where a character completely transforms however it's activated if the meter fills automatically, which can unfortunately happen during a random battle, meaning that you almost never get to utilize "trance" during an important boss battle.

Anyways, I think this is a very solid game, and I think it's a solid choice for someone who wants to get into Final Fantasy or explore one of its greats. For those of you who have recently bought it I recommend a mod called "Moguri mod" which adds widescreen with brand new drawn backgrounds as long with some features seen in FF8 remaster and FF7 remaster (Switch version) with the 4x speed, no encounters, max damage etc. to ease the grind.

Regularly crashes. No matter how much you love the original, don't pay money for a game that can't even reliably run, that square enix are too lazy to fix.

Okay game, but nothing amazing and overrated. Final Fantasy 7 and Final Fantasy 10 are much better.

If you want to try this game, wait for a sale under $10, don't pay the full price.

Mas mesmo assim tem uma história que prende, personagens que são extremamente carismáticos e eu confesso que o final me lacrimejou-me. Muito bom jogo :)

É o jogo da minha infancia. E agora estou curtindo ele mil vezes melhor. Principalmente com os mod pack do "memoria". PERFEITO demais !!!
