Request to the Developer
Would you maybe add some achievements? Even if it only be 1 or 2? Something like collect something, get to a special place. Would be great and would make the game more interesting for the growing 15 k great achievement 100 % group player? Some developers think if they sell a game for 1 cent win 5-15.000 times more i would be worth. Would be great if you think about, even if its only 1 easy achievement :) Thank you for your time and i wish you a nice day.

Hi there, I've merged your thread with the feedback thread.

Thanks so much for letting us know what you think would make NKOA better. The developer is working on more content as well as other things.
He'll be along shortly, thanks again :)

There seems to be partial controller support. I hope you cotinue controller support to full support. Suggestion for controller (Xbox360 pad). Left joystick - Forward backward and straffe, Right joystick Mapped to mouse (Camera and turn), X (blue) - action, A (green) - Jump
I don't know what else it does yet so that's all I can suggest.
I'm intrigued to find out how it's gonna turn out.

Hi, I bought this a while back but only just got a chance to play it. I was at a total loss when it started. You're just there, controling a character already with no introduction or instruction. So I definitly hope a menu screne will be part of the final product. I finally noticed the "press H for help" message but just being tossed into the game is a bit jarring. I hope you also add a bit more range of motion to the characters. When Mary jumps she just stays in the exact same position.

if this is the very first game you need to take it off of steam. The reason why is your first game is like your first drawing or your sentence would not publish that. The thing you need to do is make a bunch of small games don't publish them but let friends try them out and get feed back from them. If you need anymore infomation go to the youtube channel extra credits they have a very in depth talk about making your first game.

bought it not much of a game yet, needs lots of work. feature list on steam store needs to be updated to reflect what people are getting and what developers hope to achieve. so its like we have this now and we are working on this and we plan to have this some day (but perhaps never)

yeah camera needs to be worked on turning camera should turn characters i think

also animation a bit glitchy, not smooth especially on human character

also terrain needs to be redone, i mean it looks like like something quickly done

im not talking about the level / folliage, im talking about terrain mesh

I have a fast PC and the movement is really laggy in the game, it needs to be more responsive as it is currently very frustrating moving about in the game world

At its current state, I cannot recommend this game to anyone. Thankfully, it’s just in its alpha stage so there’s hope for improvement.

The biggest reason I bought this game is for the graphics. The environment looks serene and colorful. Although, Mary’s character model looks out-of-place since she looks more realistic.

As much as I like how the game looks, my opinion changes as soon as I move a character. The camera needs work. In particular, moving your character while moving the mouse left or right makes the character move in circles. Whenever I jump and collide into the wall, there’s a chance I will get stuck inside of it until I stop moving my character.

The sound for this game is lackluster, especially for a game focused on atmosphere and adventure. Currently, only 1 song plays throughout game and it isn’t good. It’s very repetitive and it will get annoying when listening to it for more than five minutes. There are also two sound effects in the game, and that is Aquarius’ instrument and the blooming flowers. Hilariously enough, the song that plays for the instrument is less repetitive than the background music that plays throughout the game. Other than that, the lack of sound effects makes the game feel a lot less immersive than it should. Here are some examples of objects that need sound effects: the waterfall, the teleporters, Aquarius and Mary’s footsteps, the NPCs, jumping, grabbing strawberries/rocks, and the purple river. So yeah, use sound effects, it will make your game a lot more exciting.

Some other recommendations I can suggest is to use draw distance more efficiently. The game lags a bit since everything in the environment is already rendered and the only objects that have draw distance are the yellow glowing flowers outside of the cave. I would also recommend adding an icon to your game. In window mode, the icon I see is the Unity3D logo and the title of the game is “BUC_1”. It’s kind of something I expect fixed by the end of early access, but I feel I should point it out nonetheless.

Overall, this game needs work. While the graphics are superb, the gameplay and sound just ruin it. I’m curious to see how this game will turn out, whether it will become well received or not.

I had made a topic previously, but I haven't gotten an answer there yet, so I'll ask the dev here. I noticed that this game was out on Newgrounds and Kongregate as a free demo in March of 2014:

Is this game a project that was being worked on last year that was dropped and is now getting picked back up? Are you committed to actually finishing this game, or will it be abandoned again? I'm leery of buying it (even though it is only $.14) after the whole JOTL ordeal and don't really want another broken game sitting around in my inventory....

Not at all buddy.

So, I'll clear a few things up.
I'm Dan, the owner of Back To Basics Gaming, the company publishing this game.

Mint Age Studios, the developer, is working hard. the New Grounds and Kongregate versions are tech demos. The Steam version is currently being migrated to Unity 5 and certainly not abandoned.

Thanks,

Dan.
